Ratchet & Clank, along with Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper have become the Crash Bandicoot of the millennium--the unofficial mascot for the Playstation Brand. These platformers have offered up Playstation owners grand experiences and have created life-long fans of the brand. Characters have appeared in numerous other genre titles, and some of the duos have had their stand-alone titles. Now, developer Insomniac Games is introducing two of the series well-known villains in the series--Captain Qwark and Doctor Nefarious as playable characters in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.
All 4 One, at least from the descriptions reminds me of playing the old Konami arcade titles in the arcade like The Simpsons Or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The four-player action in the game was insane--and I'm all for having three other people in your living room playing a co-op game. It made games like WWF No Mercy and New Super Mario Bros. Wii that much better. Luckily, if you're not one for social interaction Insomniac Games is allowing up to 4 players to play simultaneously online in a "drop-in, drop-out" mode.
The four player co-op' story mode is centered around a botched plan by Doctor Nefarious to destroy Captain Qwark, Ratchet and Clank that sends them spiraling into a machine known as the "creature collector." The four are forced to put their differences aside and work together to escape the confines of the machine and return back home. Not a bad story to base some co-op play off of. And luckily, it will be nothing like the wagglefest that was Playstation Move Heroes.
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is expected to hit store shelves sometime in Fall 2011. Check out some screenshots below.
