The cloud gaming folks at OnLive may not have a booth on the show floor, but it's certainly leaving its mark at the Consumer Electronics Show. It has announced a partnership not only with Google TV, but also with Razer, in an attempt to bring its gaming services to more devices, other than the PC, MicroConsole and, most recently, iOS and Android devices.
OnLive, which has slowly but surely expanded its services across a number of platforms, including mobile, has agreed to provide its services with all Google TV-compatible devices. These include a number of high definition televisions, streaming boxes and more. Though a specific list of devices weren't given, you can expect its reach to be higher than ever, allowing players to take part in their services without the need for specific hardware set-up. (A subscription is still required, though.)
If that's not enough, OnLive has also made an agreement with Razer to be included in its upcoming Project Fiona tablet, which we talked about previously here on Gamerlive.tv. Though specifics weren't shown on the model of the floor, an "OnLive" tab was already included in Fiona's menu, so players can log in and play their favorite games using the device's twin stick controllers.
This is good news for OnLive, who have been looking to reach out to new gaming audiences with its cloud gaming set-up. This means you can game with a number of titles, either on its PlayPass program or through full game purchases, without the need for CD's or game devices. You can play them on PC or through the company's offered MicroConsole, complete with wireless controller.
Here's to gaming with the cloud, folks. Looks like it's here to stay.
