Naughty Dog Unveils New Maps and Game Mode for Uncharted 3's Multiplayer

Hiding in the shade won't help you this time
Once again, Naughty Dog has done a little more digging in the vault to bring forth some oldies but goodies in terms of multiplayer maps for Uncharted 3. Tomorrow will see the release of 4 of your favorite maps from Uncharted 2 to add a little bit of variety to all of your multiplayer needs. Naughty Dog released a trailer for the upcoming maps, as well as hint at a brand new game mode coming soon.

Train Wreck, Village, Plaza, and Temple all return to the fray in glorious fashion as part of the Flashback Map Pack 2. All 4 of these maps were featured in Uncharted 2's mulitplayer, and were considered by some to be the best maps in the game. The look of the maps have been tweaked a bit thanks to Uncharted 3's lighting engine, though more major changes can be noticed immediately such as Train Wreck taking place in the hot summer sun compared to the snow-capped mountain many have come to love in Uncharted 2. Still, all of the maps will have the same feel to them regardless of any cosmetic changes.

Along with 4 maps being added to the fold, Naughty Dog hints at a new online game mode with the screenshot below:

Uncharted 3 Co-Op Shade Survival

The new mode is called Co-Op Shade Survival. If it plays anything like Co-Op Arena, then it can be expected that this mode will pit you against waves of supernatural enemies and, most likely, will be a much more difficult battle than the normal enemies in the game. Naughty Dog promises more details to be released in the upcoming weeks as Co-Op Shade Survival is set to launch some time in March.

Those who are already members of the Fortune Hunter's Club will be able to download the Flashback Map Pack 2 when it goes live on the Playstation Store tomorrow. Anyone can still sign up for the Club for $24.99, guaranteeing all of the DLC map packs, including any previously released ones, while saving over 60% on all of the content. If one wishes to purchase the map pack separately, it will run you $9.99.
