In a bold move to counter the New York Knicks landing Carmelo Anthony yesterday, the cross-town New Jersey Nets made a bold statement by landing a superstar of their own in Deron Williams. The Nets sent disgruntled guard Devin Harris, top rookie power forward Derrick Favors, two first round draft picks and $3 million cash to the Jazz for Williams. We caught up with Deron Williams during the past NBA All-Star Weekend to talk about video games. Williams plays all EA Sports games but wouldn't name names as to who the best gamer is on his team. Check out this exclusive video interview with Williams about gaming.
Williams has been averaging 21.3 points with 9.7 assists per game in another All-Star year. Williams has averaged 17.3 points and 9.1 assists for his career. His contract goes until next season with a $17.8 million player option for 2012-13.
Williams exit from Salt Lake City was probably hastened by longtime Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan's shocking resignation a couple of weeks ago. Williams and Sloan reportedly had a heated exchange during halftime of a loss against the Chicago Bulls. Williams and Sloan have had a history of dustups in the past and Sloan reportedly grew tired of the tension with his star player.
