DALLAS, Texas - NBA rookie DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors and sophmore Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers faced off in the first NBA “Slam Dunk-In' on Friday night that took place during halftime of the NBA Rookie Challenge. The winner, as voted on by fans, would end up joining two-time winner Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, Gerald Wallace of the Charlotte Bobcats, and Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday night.
It wasn’t much of a “Slam Dunk-In” though as DeMar DeRozan won by making both of his attempts in the two minutes that were provided, taking one of past Slam Dunk winner Isaiah Rider's famous dunks from a few years ago to do it. Eric Gordon had trouble all night as it took about six or seven attempts before he made the first dunk and DeRozan clearly had him beat.
To get ready for the “Slam Dunk-In,” DeRozan was at the Sony’s PlayStation Official Player’s Lounge to relax, or rather play some God of War 3 to get ready for the game. DeRozan is a big gamer as are many of the Toronto Raptors who hung out with him like Jarrett Jack and Sonny Weems, and he really liked God of War 3 as he was there for more than an hour playing just hours before the “Slam Dunk-In.” Sony was showing beta versions of God of War 3, Gran Turismo and MLB 10: The Show at the Player’s Lounge where NBA players could get a first look and play these hot upcoming games before they come out.
