Tri-Ace, perhaps best known for the Star Ocean series of RPGs, now has a role-playing game on the way for the 3DS. Beyond the Labyrinth, as it's called, features a young girl who may or may not be the protagonist and possibly the best graphics of any 3DS game to date. The screenshots, released by Japanese magazine Famitsu, are viewable below.
Not much is known about the game yet, except that it is being directed by Shingo Mukaitoge, responsible for Valkyrie Profile 2 and Resonance of Fate. The game has been described as a dungeon RPG, though what that really means is still up in the air. Until more is known about the game, the visual style, reminiscent in some ways of Ico games, will have to keep curiosity piqued for now.
The game is scheduled for a 2011 release in Japan and will be published by Konami. Though there has yet to be any talk of a US release, it seems reasonable to expect a localization at some point. While waiting for more news on the game, why not hit up the teaser site, which features some incredibly soothing music.
