When it comes to upgrading to a 3D home entertainment center for your gaming room, the new Vizio 65-inch Theater 3D Razor LED LCD HDTV is the way to go. In fact, a leading Sony game developer who’s tested all the 3D TVs on the market with their bestselling 3D game franchise said this Vizio is the one to buy. The 3D TV employs passive 3D technology, which means you can use the same glasses you wear at the movie theater. The co-founder of the company talks about this new 3D TV in this exclusive video interview from CE Week in New York below.
The 3D TV features Edge Lit Razor LED backlighting with Smart Dimming, 120 Hz refresh rate, 1080p Full HD and 1 million to 1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, high definition surround sound with SRS TruSurround HD and SRS TruVolume. The 3D HDTV also includes has a built-in dual-band 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth universal remote, that includes a slide-out QWERTY keypad and VIZIO Internet Apps. It supports wide selection of 3D formats to ensure compatibility across Blu-ray, broadcast, cable, satellite, and gaming, as well SENSIO Hi-Fi 3D, the 3D format that enables 3D content to be delivered over 2D infrastructure as well as RealD’s patented side-by-side format.
The 3D HDTV also comes with four pairs of glasses for multiple viewing of hit 3D movies like The Green Hornet, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, and Avatar. I was able to check out DirecTV’s N3D channel and the 1080p 3D visuals are amazing.
On the 3D gaming front, this TV rocks. I was able to play MLB 11: The Show, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Killzone 3, Mortal Kombat, Crysis 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Captain America in 3D. The experience of playing a decent game in 3D really changes the dynamic of the experience. Even a 2D fighter like Mortal Kombat takes on a different tone with 3D. And those games that are built from the ground up for 3D like Killzone 3 and Motorstorm Apocalypse really showcase what this technology can do. The feeling of vertigo as you jump over rooftops of a crumbling city in Motorstorm is accentuated in 3D. And shooters like Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 really bring the game worlds to life with 3D. I personally can't wait to play Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception on this Vizio. I've played that game in 3D on a smaller Sony Bravia 3D LCD, but the big screen experience is something completely different.
Even when you turn off the 3D and watch HD programming or Blu-ray movies, the visuals are so lifelike that at times it’s like you’re looking at something happening live in your living room. The screen’s so large and the picture is so clear, that it does take a while to get used to. It’s a different experience than I’ve had on any of the other flat screen HD TVs that I have in the house.
One of the cool features of the TV is its Apps network, which allows you to watch videos, stream TV shows and movies, and check out Facebook and other sites. The TV automatically connected to my home's Wi-Fi so I was instantly logged on.
Vizio has come a long way from the early days of cheap, but bad, LCD screens. Today’s products stand side-by-side with some of the more expensive Japanese brands. In this economy, your money counts more than ever. And if you want to bring a movie theater 3D experience into your home, you can’t go wrong with this Razor. It cuts just right.
