Both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are games that were critical hits on release and have since developed cult followings. Many praised the games for the ways in which they sought to evoke certain feelings in those who played them and drew parallels to older adventure games. It's not uncommon for these two PS2 titles to show up at the top of great games lists, either. The games were already great, and it looks like the HD versions, available on the PS3 later this year, are even better. Two new trailers for them are available below.
Though the trailers are in Japanese, the games are releasing in the US on September 27th, just five days after the Japanese release date. The two games will be sold together for just $39.99. It's quite a deal, as a new copy of the PS2 version of ICO costs nearly as much on its own. Some copies of the game even near $200. In addition to the new HD look and improved framerate, both games will have 3D functionality, perhaps making it a must-get for those with 3D televisions.
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, both created by Fumito Ueda, are also part of hte ICO trilogy which includes the upcoming The Last Guardian. The Last Guardian, which stars an unnamed boy and a Griffin-like creature named Trico, was expected to release worldwide for the Playstation 3 before the end of this year, but was recently pushed back to 2012.
