One can safely argue that NieR has one of the best soundtracks of the current console generation. Beautiful, imaginative vocals in non-existent languages accompany a dramatic musical score that can carry a heavy sadness or a sense of danger. The soundtrack was so loved, it's seen a remix album and, more recently, a tribute album. Fans of the music of NieR now have something else on the way in the form of an upcoming concert near the end of October.
Early last week, NieR producer Yosuke Saito tweeted that some big NieR news was on the way, causing many to speculate a sequel or spin-off was in the works. While it's certainly a disappointment for some that that was not the case, the SQ Party Level2 NieR NighT on October 28 is almost on the same level as such a thing.
The concert will be exclusively focused on NieR, and will feature bands such as world's end girlfriend and Go-qualia, both of which contributed to the recent -echo- tribute album. Sadly, the concert is exclusive to Japan, but as is often the case with such events, there's bound to be an eventual DVD release of the concert footage, which will be a good "next best thing" for American fans to go after. If the concert does well, there's no saying that a NieR sequel couldn't be on the table in the future, either.
