It's a novel idea that's really catching on in the App Store -- re-releasing old-school arcade games as part of a collection, then offering potential buyers the option to choose what games they want to keep.  Capcom's done it, Atari has done it, and Farsight is working on it with its Pinball Arcade (which we previewed).  But we're surprised that Namco has taken so long to warm up to the idea, especially with its countless Museum releases.  Well, it finally came through with Namco Arcade, a game that has the "try before you buy" method with a few of its offerings.  So why does it feel like it wasn't fully thought out?

Before the New York Giants defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI (at least according to the Madden NFL 12 simulation), EA Sports is throwing its annual videogame bash at the Bud Light Hotel. NFL legends past and current will mingle with celebrities. And in addition to the 3-on-3 videogame tournament format, which was introduced last year to incorporate online team play into the mix, there will also be concerts featuring Nas and The Roots. The digital pinball market is on the rise again, thanks to some savvy developments being handled by development teams.  No longer is it an embarrassing affair of crappy ball physics or lame table design.  No, these guys are dedicated.  Take Zen Studios, who have been pumping out quality releases with their Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball compilations.  And that's just the beginning, as Farsight Studios is preparing for its own pin assault later this spring with The Pinball Arcade.  Luckily for us, we got a taste of what the company has in mind...

Hot Shots Golf has been around for a number of years, getting its start on the PS One with the Mario Golf developers at Camelot bringing its cartoony world to life.  Since that time, a number of sequels have helped the series thrive, thanks to the development takeover at Clap Hanz.  They really know how a casual game of golf is supposed to play, with a simple swing meter, "cute" characters that players can easily identify with (Tiger who?) and breathtaking courses to play on, which will challenge your golfing skills to the max.  Next month, the series makes its return with Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational on the PS Vita, and fans should be thrilled by its arrival.

OTTOWA -- QUEBEC -- The 2012 Scotiabank NHL Fan Fair, the National Hockey League’s fan experience, will take over more than 100,000 square feet and three levels of the Ottawa Convention Centre in downtown Ottawa from Thursday, Jan. 26 through Saturday, Jan. 28. There will be something for everyone at the three-day, family-friendly festival, including special appearances from former NHL greats and current NHL stars, a display of 19 of hockey’s most-prized trophies including the Stanley Cup, live TV and radio broadcasts, music, food, merchandise locations and dozens of other dynamic activities. EA Sports NHL 12 was on display at the festivities as well.

Every Tuesday, Sony brings its PlayStation faithful new content, add-ons for your favorite games, Themes and avatars for your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.
