Epic Games has released its Epic Citadel App, which is now available from the Apple App Store. The app showcases the technical capabilities of Epic’s award-winning Unreal Engine 3 on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. In Epic Citadel, players navigate a fictional castle realm using simple controls and the innovative Multi-Touch user interface. Epic Citadel also features stunning visuals and special effects, with an environment inspired by Project Sword, Epic’s newest game.

SAN DIEGO – What started as a trailer that played during Quinton Tarantino’s Grandhouse movies a few years back has blossomed into a big summer action movie with a full roster of action stars. Machete stars Danny Trejo (as Machete) and Michelle Rodriguez (as Luz) and was written and directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Predators). The trio hopped into a lowrider at Comic-Con 2010 to talk about the new movie, which opens Labor Day Weekend September 3.

Napa Valley – Electronic Arts Chief Technology Officer Rich Hilleman was on hand at the recent Ayzenberg A-List Summit in Napa Valley to discuss the impact of 3D gaming on marketing during a full day of panels. Disney Interactive Studios was on hand with both console versions of the new TRON: Evolution videogames inside Disney Pictures Comic Con 2010 recreation of Flynn’s Arcade, just down the street from the San Diego Convention Center. It was part of the ComiTRON celebration, which marked the end of three years of promotion for the upcoming 3D movie. The new game connects the storyline between the two films. Bruce Boxleitner, who plays TRON, talks about the new TRON: Legacy movie and the videogames in this exclusive interview.

Sony Pictures is unleashing the first 3D videogame adaptation on Saturday at Comic Con 2010. Filmed using the same camera system as James Cameron’s Avatar, Resident Evil: Afterlife will be shown in Hall H on Saturday at 4pm in front of a packed crowd.

Disney has renamed Comic Con 2010, ComiTRON. In addition to an hour-long panel featuring new footage from the 3D Tron Legacy movie, Disney Interactive Studios will be showing new Tron Evolution games and new mobile games both in its booth and off-site at a recreation of Flynn’s arcade.

Activision impressed E3 2010 attendees last week with a massive concert at the Staples Center featuring Eminem, Usher and Sound Garden. Then followed that up with a great line-up of game demos including Call of Duty: Black Ops, DJ Hero 2, GoldenEye 007, and a new Spider-Man and Guitar Hero game. Now Activision has launched a new chapter in Transformers, serving a summer movie experience sans the movie.

Telltale Games is going Back to the Future, literally. The game company has signed a multi-year, two-title video game development deal with Universal Partnerships & Licensing.  Telltale Games has secured the rights to create videogames based on two of Universal Pictures’ most popular intellectual properties, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.  The first game released under the agreement will be a Telltale Games “season” based on the successful Back to the Future series of films.

The NPD Group has released its videogame sales data for April. Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Xbox 360-exclusive, was the top-selling console game in April with 486,000 units sold. Splinter Cell: Conviction joins two other Xbox 360 titles, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (166,000 units sold) and “Super Street Fighter IV (108,000 units sold), in the list of top 10 selling console games for April.

What do you do when you kill off most of the cast in the season one finale? You go back in time. Pre-production is underway on a six-part prequel to Starz’ hit original series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.” Andy Whitfield, who played the title character in the series, will appear in the prequel briefly, but Lucy Lawless and John Hannah take center stage in this story of the rise of the House of Batiatus and its champions before Spartacus arrives as a captured Thracian slave.  With the title still to be determined, the prequel will begin production this summer in New Zealand, and is slated to air on Starz in January 2011.

One of the biggest games of 2009 now has a quick sequel coming out this fall, ensuring Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood will be a big game of 2010. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood will ship this fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game is in development at the Ubisoft Montreal Studio in collaboration with Ubisoft studios in Singapore, Bucharest, Québec City and Annecy, best known for developing the multiplayer in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

One of the big games of 2010 is the sequel to one of the most innovative games on the PlayStation 3. Sony Computer Entertainment America liked Media Molecule’s first game so much they bought the studio. Now the sequel to the award-winning, multi-million unit selling hit LittleBigPlanet is coming to PlayStation 3 this fall.
