 While a Wonder Woman movie remains in development limbo, fans are about to see a lot more of DC Comics’ scantily-clad superhero in Sony Online Entertainment’s new PlayStation 3 and PC game, DC Universe Online. Players will be able to play alongside Wonder Woman in the new game, which also features superheroes like Batman and Superman. COLOGNE -- Trion Worlds showed that its one of the major players in the massively-multiplayer online space at GamesCom 2010 with its huge booth, which was packed with gamers. The game publisher featured playable versions of its first two MMO games, the role-playing game Rift: Planes of Telara and the real-time strategy game End of Nations. LucasArts showcased Lego Star Wars III and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 at Activision’s booth, while Star Wars: The Old Republic was at Electronic Arts’ massive hall. Disney’s World of Cars Online, featuring the voices of Cheech Marin and Jenifer Lewis, revs into a very successful Disney Online. According to recently released data from comScore Media Metrix, Disney Online, the No. 1 ranked community-family and parenting destination on the Web, reached a record-breaking 36 million unique visitors in July, beating the previous all-time record of 34 million uniques set in June 2009 by two million unique visitors.

SAN DIEGO – Jim Lee wears three hats in the comic book world. He’s founder of Wildstorm Productions, which makes videogame comics like Gears of War, he’s co-publisher of DC Comics and he’s executive creative director for Sony Online Entertainment’s DC Universe Online game. Lee was on hand at Comic Con to reveal the story that propels the new game into an adventure that will be chronicled in both the MMO game and a new comic book series.

Atari and renowned MMO developer Cryptic Studios announced the availability of Season Two: Ancient Enemies, the latest content update for the Star Trek Online universe. Season Two: Ancient Enemies is available at no additional cost to current Star Trek Online players. Electronic Arts and 38 Studios will debut Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the company’s first title previously referred to under the codename “Project Mercury,” at Comic Con 2010. Reckoning is an epic, open-world role-playing game set in Amalur, a mysterious and magical new fantasy world created by New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore. Brought to life visually through the trademark visceral style of renowned artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, Reckoning brings a new level of intense action combat to the RPG genre. The game is being developed under the leadership of Ken Rolston, lead designer of the critically acclaimed RPGs Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is scheduled for release in fall 2011.

At the 2010 Comic-Con International in San Diego, comics creator and Sony Art Director Mat Broome will be on-hand to showcase the first glimpse at two new innovative projects. The first announcement is of a new creator-owned comic series, following in the footsteps of his last creator-owned series The End League with Rick Remender. Broome's second announcement will be of an innovative online start-up that will bring together the top creative minds of comics, video games, film, television and music. These two projects underscore a revitalized creative effort by Broome that has been years in the making.

Sony Online Entertainment announced its lineup of activities for the weekend of San Diego Comic-Con, July 22-25.  The publisher will feature panels, activities and even a free open house block party at the show, highlighting games DC Universe Online, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures and Magic: The Gathering – Tactics.

Gamers can become the next DC Universe legend at Comic Con 2010, joining the ranks of Superman, Batman and the Green Lantern. Next weekend in San Diego, Sony Online Entertainment will host a videogame tournament at its Comic Con booth July 22-25.  Fans will have their chance to become legends in the new online world of DC Universe Online (DCUO), competing for great prizes and a chance to create a character for SOE’s upcoming action MMO, DC Universe Online.

Having built a solid fan base with its first collaboration, “Star Wars Galaxies,” Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and LucasArts have teamed up again for another online vid game experience. This one, “Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures” (www.CloneWarsAdventures.com), is based on Lucasfilm’s hit animated television series that airs on Cartoon Network. The free-to-play game is focused on the growing family online vid game audience.
