Blockbuster videogame franchise Gears of War has been a household name among gamers, with over 12 million copies sold to date. At the demand of fans asking to know more about the story, Gears of War burst onto the book scene in 2008 with Aspho Fields and then with Jacinto’s Remnant following one year later, both penned by #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss and both instant bestsellers. Tor Books, an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC—the largest publisher of science fiction in the world is excited to announce that Karen Traviss, who has penned number one bestselling novels in the Star Wars universe, as well as bestselling novels for the Gears of War franchise, will be writing the successor novel to Halo: Ghosts of Onyx in the first part of a multi-book deal to explore the Halo Universe in the wake of the final events of Halo 3. Halo novels published by Tor have sold over a million combined copies to date, and in 2010 Tor will also publish the first in a new Halo trilogy by science fiction icon Greg Bear. The highly-anticipated Xbox 360 video game “Halo: Reach” is scheduled to release September 14. 

THQ and Syfy will have plenty to show at Comic Con 2010 in San Diego. The companies announced a first-of-a-kind transmedia deal to debut Red Faction: OriginsT (working title), a two hour live-action movie pilot scheduled to air in March 2011 on Syfy.  The story of Red Faction: Origins follows the lineage of rebel hero Alec Mason and the Mason family, set during a period between the critically acclaimed Red Faction: Guerrilla video game and the recently announced and highly anticipated Red Faction: Armageddon video game, also scheduled for release in March 2011.

Just in time for the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Electronic Arts' new console games, fans can re-live the earlier films on Blu-ray. This holiday season, conjure the gift of magic when Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Ultimate Editions arrive on Blu-ray and DVD October 19 from Warner Home Video.
