This makes it a 3D sweep for MLB All-Star as ESPN3D will bring the State Farm Home Run Derby to customers in 3D on Monday, July 12, as well. On top of this, gamers can play Sony's MLB 10 PlayStation 3 videogame in 3D now, as well, taking in both events virtually in 3D.

As the world awaits NBA MVP free agent LeBron James’ decision on which team to sign with, the videogame world is looking back to a past great. 2K Sports revealed the official cover art for NBA 2K11 featuring Michael Jordan as the face of this year's iteration of the top rated and top selling basketball simulation franchise. The art style, featuring a highly-stylized, three-panel, iconic image of Jordan, represents a departure from previous NBA 2K titles to reflect the significance of having the greatest player of all time grace the cover.

2K Sports today announced The REAL Hockey Experience on Wii, an unprecedented NHL 2K11 cross-country tour featuring NHL players, an array of fan-friendly giveaways and contests, and hands-on play with NHL2K11 months before it is released exclusively for the Wii system.  Traveling throughout the northern United States and Canada, 2K Sports will bring the excitement of NHLhockey to more than a dozen cities in a custom-designed NHL 2K11 recreation vehicle rigged with portable video game gear created especially for fans and gamers. Rockstar Games’ blockbuster hit, Red Dead Redemption, is going NASCAR again. Joey Logano will be at his “home track” on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, this weekend for the New England 200, racing with the Red Dead Redemption car. Logano grew up about 150 miles south of New Hampshire Motor Speedway (located in Loudon, NH) in the town of Middletown, CT. Logano got his start racing in Quarter Midgets in the New England area before he and his family relocated to Georgia, and eventually North Carolina, to help further Logano’s development.

With Team USA capturing the nation’s attention at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa by making it to the Sweet 16 bracket with a match against Ghana, former Team USA soccer star and current ESPN soccer analyst Alexi Lalas chimes in on his favorite videogames. EA Sports is using the NBA Draft to showcase its newest basketball game. Electronic Arts has signed Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant as the cover athlete for NBA ELITE 11. A 2010 NBA All-Star, Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring this past season, and he helped lead the Thunder to an impressive 50 win season and an NBA Playoffs berth. NBA ELITE 11 is currently in development under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and will be available worldwide this October.

After winning the Stanley Cup with Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, Electronic Arts is sticking with the Hawks for NHL 11. EA Sports has signed 22-year-old Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews as the cover athlete for its upcoming game. With last year’s title featuring Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane, NHL 11 marks the first time that EA Sports has put back to back players from the same team on the cover of the NHL franchise. Jonathan Toews’ image will be on the front of all packaging when NHL 11 is available in North American retail stores this September. Unlike Kane, Toews is Canadian and will appeal to that country’s passionate hockey fans.

Quick Hit, Inc., a leading developer and publisher of free social sports games, has signed an exclusive multi-year NFL license from the National Football League.  Under the terms of the agreement, QUICKHIT will have the right to use NFL trademarks in its successful free-to-play, browser-based game, QUICKHIT Football. Although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the license includes the 32 NFL team names, logos, colors, uniform and helmet designs, as well as the Super Bowl, NFC, AFC, and Pro Bowl logos. The game will be on display at E3 2010 in Los Angeles.

Tiger Woods isn't the only golf game in town. The qualifying round of the second annual Virtual USGA Championship, hosted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and World Golf Tour (WGT), and presented by RBS, are currently underway. Free to enter, the virtual Championship takes place on a HD online version of Oakmont Country Club, home to this year’s U.S. Women’s Open. Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA), Major League Baseball, and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) are teaming up to fight cancer this year.  Beginning June 13 through July 10, for every copy of MLB 10 The Show purchased for PlayStation 3 in retail stores, SCEA will donate $10 of its proceeds to SU2C to fuel research centered on getting new treatments to patients quickly and saving lives.  Baseball fans across the U.S. now will have the opportunity to play the most authentic and realistic baseball game in MLB 10: The Show, while also joining the ever-growing SU2C community to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
