Blizzard Entertainment announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty achieved a day-one sales milestone of more than 1 million copies sold worldwide, making it the bestselling PC game of 2010 within its first 24 hours of availability. One of the big games of 2010, and one of the biggest PC games of the year, finally has a release date. Blizzard Entertainment announced that its highly anticipated real-time strategy game, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, will arrive in stores throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau starting on July 27, 2010. Players will also be able to purchase StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty directly from Blizzard Entertainment shortly after the retail launch.

When it comes to iPad, videogames are already flooding the iTunes store. In addition to the 25,000 iPhone and iPod Touch games that are compatible with Apple’s new device, there are already over 800 iPad-specific games that take advantage of the new hardware. As the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti continues to mount, along with the death toll, casual videogame maker Zynga is taking action. The game developer, which works with Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo! and Apple iPhone to distribute many of its titles, is running a special Haiti relief campaign in three of its top games that reach over 40 million users daily.

NEW YORK CITY – Sega has a new take on console-based real-time strategy on display in New York. StormRise is the latest RTS from acclaimed Sega-owned developer, The Creative Assembly. Having worked on the Total Warm franchise for years, the Australian studio decided to create an original sci-fi RTS for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4.
