Ubisoft’s Shootmania Storm is about to join the eSports arena alongside Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft II and Riot Games’ League of Legends. The upcoming PC online multiplayer first-person shooter game will join the tournament line-up at IPL 5, the next major tournament event of the IGN Pro League (IPL), taking place November 29-December 2 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. 


Gazillion Entertainment is celebrating the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release of Disney’s summer blockbuster hit, Marvel's The Avengers by revealing five new screenshots featuring Avengers in-game character costumes. The Avengers will be playable in Gazillion’s upcoming action MMO game, Marvel Heroes. So it was with much fanfare that the game publisher and developer unveiled Mists of Pandaria at the Irvine Spectrum Center launch. Fans spoke out about their devotion to the bestselling MMO game. IRVINE – Blizzard Entertainment won’t be hosting a BlizzCon event this year, so fans came out in full cosplay to support the next best thing. The launch of World of WarCraft: Mists of Pandaria at the Irvine Spectrum Center featured game developers, celebrities and pandas. Fans were treated to a huge stage presentation featuring an evening of activities, special guests, giveaways, and entertainment -- including a “challenge-mode challenge” between Blizzard employees and members of the community -- before the expansion went on sale. Social game maker has partnered with host and chef Robert Irvine to promote the Food Network hit show, Restaurant: Impossible. A virtual incarnation of Irvine is now in Chefville. The chef will help ChefVille players enhance their in-game establishments by mastering dishes from around the world, while improving their restaurants. Beyond the ChefVille integration, for the first time ever Zynga will be featured in a commercial slated to air on Food Network during Restaurant: Impossible show times.

With World of Warplanes and World of Battleships in development, the game publisher is focusing on eSports. At the International Ural Steel Championship 2012 Grand Finals, held on September 16 at CSKA Sport Arena in Moscow, three Russian teams became the champions of the World of Tanks final showdown. After a number of intense clashes, The RED: Rush Unity team took the Champion’s title away from The RED-Z GRA with a 3 to 0 victory on the Lakeville map, while third place went to Virtus.Pro ACES.


NCsoft and ArenaNet have another success in the massively multiplayer online (MMO) games space. Guild Wars 2 has crossed the 2 million units sold threshold in under two weeks. Ubisoft is unleashing the first content expansion for the premium online free-to-play shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online. The Arctic Pack, available on September 12, features a host of new content including a new Conquest mode map, Tomsk-9, as well as six new weapon variants, three new head gear variants and 2 new body armor variants.
