I've never owned a Sony handheld, but WipeOut 2048 makes me want to join the club. The no-grav racer series has been rather quiet these past few years, its sole current-generation title (WipeOut HD) originally released as a PSN-only title. Fortunately, WipeOut seems to be speeding around the bend to make every other racer look like a virtual venture into snail-farming.

NFL Blitz is back with trademark flair and updated visuals. Those of you with fond memories of light-speed 7-on-7 pigskin bouts won't be disappointed. Everything from the affable arrogance of touchdown celebrations to the "honeycombed steel" presentation is here to welcome you back come January 2012.

GoldenEye is one of the classics of console FPS games. It gave players the freedom to play through levels stealthy or guns blazing and had fairly fun multiplayer. Recently, it saw a remake for the Wii, featuring motion controls and somewhat improved graphics. Now another release of the game is in the works, this time with HD graphics for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Is this game really so fun that it deserves yet another version in this short span of time? That's what I went into my hands-on with GoldenEye 007: Reloaded wondering.

Amidst news of a buggy beta and even journalists running into their fair share of glitches, I went into my hands-on with Battlefield 3's multiplayer, featuring the Grand Bazaar and Operation Firestorm maps, unsure of what to expect. I had to wonder if it was as bad as the naysayers were making it out to be? Once I saw for myself, I was pleased to find my worries were completely unfounded.

Final Fantasy may be the best known and most beloved Japanese RPG series out there. It certainly seems to be the first name to come to mind when people consider the genre. There's certainly no doubt that Final Fantasy Type-0, the next Final Fantasy title to be released for the PSP, is a game many fans of the genre and the franchise are looking forward to. If you've been wondering what to expect, you're in luck because we have our hands-on impressions after getting some time with the newly available Japanese demo.

With Resistance 3 releasing September 6th, Insomniac Games are looking to put the finishing touches on the multiplayer with the help of their fans. In opening up a Resistance 3 multiplayer beta, they wisely follow in the steps of Uncharted and Gears of War. Though the beta's start had it on the road to greatness, it seems to have suddenly hit a major speedbump. Read on for more details.

Summer is coming to an in just a few weeks, taking the beach days and the hot weather along with it. You can look at it as a bad thing as that means everyone goes back to school. However, a lot of people look forward to the change in season because that means it's football season, and there's no better way to kick the season off with Madden NFL 12. This year, there aren't many new features to speak of because EA Sports decided to put more emphasis on improving the gameplay overall. After getting the chance to play it at several events, the improvement can certainly be noticed.
Even if you aren't at home, there are still plenty of ways to play some video games while on the go. Handheld systems really made a name for themselves mainly due to the Nintendo Game Boy, selling millions of units worlwide. Jump the calendar up over a decade and now you have a combination of handheld systems and mobile phones that are capable of playing games. While the mobile market has been rapidly increasing in size, Sony has a device they believe is capable of succeeding in the PS Vita. Though that battle will play out for a long time, one thing that is certain is that the Vita is quite an impressive device.
Certainly one of the biggest games of the year will be Modern Warfare 3. With Call of Duty's track record of hitting huge sales numbers, how could it not be? The third installment of the Modern Warfare series looks to be the biggest as the battle is being brought to some of the world's biggest cities such as New York, Paris, and London. It will also feature a brand-new Survival mode within Spec Ops, taking the Zombies mode from previous games, but giving the enemies guns so they can fight back. After getting a chance to play Survival mode, it really is a much more fun experience, and a little tougher too.
When it comes to 3D gaming, Sony is making a big push to be the leader in delivering a quality 3D experience to PS3 owners all over the world. At E3 this year, they announced a brand-new, 24" 3D TV to hit the stores and give people a 3D display at an affordable price of $499.99. I got a chance to see this display in action and can surely say that this new TV is quite the bargain, and still a really nice display even at a cheap price.
The NFL ended its lockout last week, ensuring that there will be more football for at least the next 10 years, and people couldn't have been happier. However, the NBA is also in a lockout, leaving only football and hockey as the only two major sports during the colder seasons. So it can be said that now would be a really good time for NHL 12 to pick up some steam and give basketball games a nasty cross check. With an improved engine that allows for bigger and better hits, NHL 12 just may have what it takes to be the dominant sport game this winter season.
