2K Sports is keeping busy these days. With blockbuster trades like New Orleans Hornets NBA All-Star Chris Paul going to the Los Angeles Clippers, gamers will be able to get all of the new rookies and player movement in regular updates for NBA 2K12. The development team at Visual Concepts is posting daily updates with player movement and has included a 66-game abbreviated schedule for those who want to simulate the post-lockout 2011-12 season.

2K Sports is running full speed on updates for NBA 2K12, in order to prep for the upcoming season, which kicks off in less than two weeks on Christmas day.  And to start things off, it's already uploaded its first roster update, which does feature the addition of a few rookies, as well as some noteable trades.  But not everything is perfect with it...

2K Sports’ NBA 2K12 is getting some mobile competition. With EA Sports still sitting out the lockout-shortened season, Ogmento, a publisher of location-based, augmented reality mobile games, has released NBA: King of the Court on iOS or Android devices. NBA: King of the Court is the first mobile app to adapt a major league sports franchise into a free-to-play, location-based online game. Now LeBron James isn't the only king of the court.

The NBA lockout is now history, which gives hoops fans something to look forward to besides gifts under the tree this Christmas day. But gamers get an early gift with 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12 DLC Legends Showcase. The new cel-shaded game is out today, November 29, for Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

When developers put some effort into making an iPad game, some try to pull out all the stops and replicate the same kind of experience you’d get from a game console.  The Apple tablet is a respectable game machine, after all, especially if you’re playing something along the lines of Dead Space or the awesome Infinity Blade.  But sometimes you can try to pile on too much, and as a result, it mars the experience.  That’s exactly what happens with 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12.  The company shoots for a quality simulation, right up there with the console versions, but it comes up short in key areas.  It’s like the thrill of seeing someone go for a fast break and then miff the dunk at the end.

Well, it took long enough -- around 150 days to be precise -- but it now looks like the NBA is kicking into high gear again for a Christmas debut.  With that, some updates will be coming to NBA 2K12, 2K Sports' awesome basketball sim, that will reflect things happening within the season.  Among these updates will be the addition of rookies to the roster.

We had previously announced that 2K Sports was, in fact, bringing a new Legends Showcase downloadable content pack to NBA 2K12 this holiday season, priced at a reasonable 800 Microsoft points, or $9.99, for basketball fans to enjoy.  But we had yet to see which legends would be joining the party, only the modes and features coming with the DLC.  Well, rest at ease, as today, we have the full list of legends joining the game with the new pack.

Last year's release of NBA 2K11 was a colossal hit for NBA fans, but this year's release of NBA 2K12 turned out to be even better.  Still, there are those who haven't quite converted over to the old game yet, sticking to Jordan's old guns from last year.  But they might want to switch over soon, as 2K Sports is reportedly deadset on shutting down the basketball game's online servers sometime in the middle of this month.

November NBA games have been wiped clean off the boards and with things looking grim with the NBA lockout, basketball show makers like Nike are relying more heavily on video games like 2K Sports NBA 2K12. The sneaker maker talks about its latest offerings from Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade and the role video games play in marketing today in these exclusive videos below.

Things are going very badly for NBA fans as more games are expected to be canceled and the entire season is in jeopardy. But for gamers, 2K Sports is offering more virtual hoops action through the downloadable add-on for NBA 2K12. Legends Showcase will be available this fall for $9.99 via PlayStation Network and for 800 Microsoft Points via Xbox Live Marketplace.

If you haven't picked up NBA 2K12 yet, you're really missing out on some great basketball.  And considering that the real life season has taken a skid into "not happening" territory, it's a superb alternative to turn to.  That said, if you do have it, then you know how great it really is.  However, according to some leaked screens we found across the internet, it's bound to get even better with some forthcoming DLC.  (UPDATE: Confirmed by 2K Sports!)

NBA 2K12 has been out for almost two weeks now, and the reviews have been pouring in, talking about how excellent the game is, and how we have so many NBA legends at our fingertips with it.  But the real question is, who's the greatest?  Well, thanks to 2K Sports, we have some unlikely insight in regards to the matter...though the question still remains...

10.09.11

NBA 2K12 has been out for just about a week now, but there's no question the reception behind its release has been nothing short of spectacular.  Basketball fans everywhere love it; critics are giving it high marks and considering it one of the best sports games ever made; and as for us, hey, we could barely tear ourselves away from it long enough to type this article.  And that leaves us wondering...what's left to do for NBA 2K13?  Not much, but there are a few things...

10.08.11

From what we've seen thus far, NBA 2K12 is quite the polished effort from 2K Sports.  It definitely has the representation of basketball down pat, and the gameplay has seen a number of slight improvements that make the game feel better overall.  However, no game is perfect, and a YouTube user has discovered a glitch that have left us scratching our heads.
