One of the big games of 2010, 2K Games’ Mafia 2, will now feature some of the sexiest centerfolds from the real world. 2K Games has signed a license agreement with Playboy magazine for a unique in-game integration to use more than 50 of their vintage covers and Centerfolds in Mafia II, this year’s highly anticipated epic mobster game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game will be shown at GDC 2010 in San Francisco this year to media. Set in the fully realized and immersive 1940s and 1950s American urban cityscape of Empire Bay, Mafia II will enable players to collect virtual copies of the iconic magazine, which has served as the definitive guide to lifestyle and culture for men since December 1953.

Legacy Recordings will release BioShock 2, the digital album of music from the latest installment of 2K Games' award-winning videogame franchise, on Tuesday, February 9, along with the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. BioShock 2 is the eagerly awaited sequel to BioShock, an enormously popular video game franchise that has won more than 50 Game of the Year Awards and shipped over three million units worldwide.

With a core team of people from 2K Boston relocated to 2K Marin and a repeat team from 2K Australia, as well as a brand-new multiplayer team from Digital Extreme, a lot of work went into BioShock 2 from around the globe. 2K Games announced its nationwide Return to Rapture with midnight openings celebrating the launch of BioShock  2, the sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year.  On February 9, more than 2,500 GameStop and Best Buy stores will open their doors when the clock strikes midnight to the hordes of Big Daddy fans hungry to get their hands on and devour BioShock 2. Additionally, those who pre-ordered the game through GameStop will receive two bonus characters - Blanche the Actress and Zigo the Fisherman - to use in the game's multiplayer mode. The road to the launch of BioShock 2 kicks off tonight, with the debut of a 3 minute 15 second trailer during the first commercial break of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Rockstar Games is bringing the hit Xbox 360 expansion stories Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City to PlayStation 3 and PC on March 30. Sid Meier, the director of creative development and co-founder of Firaxis Games, will bring to bear over 25 years of experience in game design in the opening keynote address at the 2010 Game Developers Conference (GDC).  Best known for his work designing the genre-defining Civilization strategy game franchise, Sid Meier will present a keynote entitled "The Psychology of Game Design (Everything You Know Is Wrong)."

While Nintendo continues to sell its motion-sensor controlled Wiis, it’s taken four years but Sony and Microsoft will enter the mainstream competition. This fall Sony’s PlayStation 3 Motion Controller will go head-to-head with Microsoft’s Project Natal for Xbox 360 in an attempt to attract a more casual gaming audience.

Although a new team (2K Marin), overseen by eight key members from the original venture, has taken the helm on the single-player sequel (Digital Extremes is developing the multiplayer prequel separately in Toronto), Unreal 2.5 remains the main star of this unique and award-winning universe.

Gearbox Software has reinvented its next-generation sci-fi shooter game, Borderlands, with a new cel-shaded look that automatically separates it from anything else out there. The game, which was always powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3, took a turn last year when the decision was made to launch in holiday 2009. That gave the team’s art department a lot more time than they had originally planned for.
