Ugh.  Game of Thrones.  Not the show, mind you, and certainly not A Song of Fire and Ice.  Those are high-quality works that, by all means, shouldn’t be missed, especially for the significant twists and turns.  But the game, recently released by Atlus and Cyanide Studios, leaves a lot to be desired.  It’s fallen completely flat on its face, leaving a diabolically thrilling storyline dangling in the wind because of faulty gameplay and a presentation that can’t compare to The Witcher 2 or even Kingdoms of Amalur.  With that, we’re left wondering…why didn’t someone else grab this franchise?

Taking full advantage of Kinect for Xbox 360, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is a first-person perspective action game that will put players in the cockpit of futuristic Vertical Tanks (VTs) starting June 19. Set in 2082, the game depicts a world devoid of semiconductors, where war is waged with rudimentary weapons as new superpowers struggle for dominance. In a twist of fate, the U.S. army has been forced to begin major landing operations on what was once its own soil. Playing as pilot Lt. Powers, players control one a VT as he embarks on a mission that will see the action shift from North America to battlefields and war-torn streets across the globe. The multiplayer mode of the game made its debut at Captivate 2012.  Capcom’s Antoine Molant was on hand to discuss this sequel in this exclusive interview.

Capcom connected with gamers back on the original Xbox with Steel Battalion, a game best known for its massive controller filled with buttons and levers to control the in-game Mechs. Thanks to Kinect, the newest game in the franchise (which is not a direct sequel to the Xbox game), eliminates any new controllers while making the experience more immersive. Capcom’s Antoine Molant details the new game at Captivate 2012 in this exclusive video interview below.

As the sun finally started to subside, an amber glow receded behind the looming mountains in the distance. The sunset was short lived, for a chilling darkness approached. Putrid, red goblin corpses were strewn about in bloody disarray across the hillside. Evidence of a recent battle that paled in comparison to the magnitude of what was to come.

Throughout the history of video games, the oldest stereotype surrounding the industry has always been do violent video games affect player behavior and personality. It is a known fact that people who play games are exposed to more violence than the average consumer. From nuking entire civilization to obliterating players online, it’s has become more and more common now that games are more focus on squarely providing violent action. For this reason alone, parents have long held an underlining negative attitude towards the industry and those who stand by it, but is this criticism injustice or have developers gone to far? Should government step in?

What is it about Sour Patch Kids that has us so addicted?  Is it the sweet taste that’s underlying the start-off sour flavor?  Or is it the fact that they’re so small that you can devour many of them at a time?  Either way, we were pleased with what Capcom shuffled to our office this week, a game code for the Sour Patch-licensed World Gone Sour game, along with a package of Sour Patch Kids to munch on while we play.  We thought the true validation of this package would be the candy – but believe it or not, the game’s not half bad.

There isn't really a devil hunter out there like Dante.  Sure, Vergil can try and step in all he wants (as he did in Devil May Cry 4), but nothing beats the original butt-kicking hero, between his impressive firepower and his prowess for carving up baddies with an enormous sword.  Before we get treated to Ninja Theory’s take on the legacy with DMC later this year, it’s time to step back in the past with the first three games from the series, which have been given the high definition treatment at the hands of Capcom.

Detailing Dante’s early years and set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC Devil May Cry will retain the stylish action, fluid combat and self-assured protagonist that have defined the iconic series but inject a more brutal and visceral edge. The new game, in development at Ninja Theory (Enslaved, Heavenly Sword), utilizes Unreal Engine 3 technology. Check out the video below from Captivate 2012.

Capcom has a brand new franchise that’s about to be unleashed, Dragon’s Dogma, which is likely to be one of the big games of 2012. While the game is new, the creator, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is not. Kobayashi has produced some of Capcom’s biggest games, including Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 4. He talks about the new fantasy action adventure game and why Dragon’s Dogma is different than anything gamers are used to.
