Cologne – WWE superstar The Miz made his first trip to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. He was on hand to check out the latest build of THQ’s and Yuke's WWE 12 video game, which ships November 22. The Miz talks about his old school gaming days and why this latest game from THQ and Yukes is awesome, really.


No, not the kind of Predator from To Catch a Predator.  And definitely not the space Predator -- though he would make a cool wrestling character.  Nope, we're talking about Predator technology, a new addition to the engine of WWE 12, THQ's upcoming wrestling game.  Its inclusion will not only make its characters look more dynamic, but will emulate WWE programming, to the point that you may actually feel as if you're watching the real thing.


LOS ANGELES – WWE superstar The Miz entered the main ring at WWE Fan Axxess outside of Stapes Center before Summerslam 2011 to announce the full roster of WWE 12. He was joined by fellow superstar Randy Orton, who’s on the cover of the new game, during the event. But Orton won’t be the only superstar with cover honors this November. THQ is allowing fans to vote on who will be on the collector’s edition of the game – WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or current WWE Co-Champion John Cena.


World Wrestling Entertainment's latest pay-per-view, Summerslam, happens this Sunday, with a number of matches set to thrill the attending folks in Los Angeles.  As part of the festivities, THQ teamed up with the company to reveal the full roster for its upcoming WWE 12, which will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii on November 22.  While a bunch of big names made the cut, we were also surprised to see a few other folks in there, too.


THQ has shuttered multiple studios and canceled key game franchises as part of a “strategic realignment” of its internal studio development teams.THQ is in the process of transitioning its portfolio away from licensed kids titles and movie-based entertainment properties for consoles. The company has also killed its MX vs. ATV, deBlob and Juiced franchises. Homefront 2 remains in development, but it's been moved to Montreal.


The RIO celebration has given wing to prospects for an endless summer, with the colorful, musical family adventure from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment setting home video history as the biggest selling family title ever for an August release in its Blu-ray and DVD debut. Sales of RIO exceeded 2.5 million units in its first six days, the company announced today. Premium two-disc DVD and Blu-ray combo packs represented 40 percent of retail sales. Fox, which is also hold back on sales of Avatar in 3D, has released a Blu-ray 3D version of RIO exclusively through Best Buy. Gamers can play the Angry Birds RIO tie-in, or the THQ games based on the hit movie. 


THQ is making one of the big games of 2011 even bigger. The company's pre-order program for WWE '12 focuses on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Often touted as “the most electrifying man in all of entertainment,” legendary WWE Superstar The Rock will be available as a playable character for consumers who pre-order the game at any participating retailer within the United States or Canada for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or PlayStation3 computer entertainment system (while supplies last).  The Rock’s in-game character will resemble his current-day appearance, including a shaved head and new tattoos.  


Comic-Con 2011 has a surprisingly good amount of game content happening for it, including offerings from THQ, Sony, and various other companies in San Diego.  However, leave it to Capcom to go and steal the show.  Not only does th company have some great games at its booth (along with a killer shop for fans to buy stuff at), but it's gone and teased us about a new Resident Evil game, which will be revealed in a matter of months.


Bruce Campbell made his annual pilgrimage to Comic-Con in San Diego this week to promote his hit USA Network TV show, “Burn Notice.” But fan boys only wanted to hear about the new Evil Dead remake. Campbell said that he’d “most likely” be in the new movie, which will reboot the franchise.


THQ and developer Volition have hired Penthouse Pets Heather Vandeven, Justine Joli, Heidi Baron, Shay Laren, Ryan Keely, and Nikki Benz to promote the new Saints Row: The Third video game at San Diego Comic-Con 2011. The girls will comprise the new Saints Row Quality Assurance Team, dedicated wholly to complete customer satisfaction. The Saints Row Quality Assurance team promises to ensure a satisfying Saints Row experience whether playing alone or with a friend. And gamers can meet these sexy ladies one-on-one at the THQ booth throughout the convention.


THQ and Volition are celebrating Saints Row: The Third at Comic-Con 2011 in a big way. Some of the top names from the voice cast of the new game, including porn star Sasha Grey and pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, will be on hand to celebrate the new game at a big party as well as at THQ’s booth 5145 on the convention floor. THQ is bringing downtown San Diego to life and transforming the side of Petco Park at the intersection of K St. and 7th Ave. into a live, 3D experience. Without 3D glasses, the public will have the chance to see large-format 3D images popping off walls of PETCO Park from THQ’s upcoming game, Saints Row: The Third. From tanks crushing cars to characters smashing through buildings, the 3D-event will make you feel like you are part of the game, not just a spectator. Come experience San Diego’s outdoor 3D Comic-Con extravaganza.


THQ has unleashed a standalone arcade game that ties directly into one of the big games of 2011. The  shooter Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is available on Xbox LIVE and coming to Playstation Network later this summer. Players who complete the first mission in Kill Team will unlock the deadly power sword weapon for use in multiplayer in the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine. It cuts through armor and flesh alike and features unique animations, combos and damage output. 


THQ and Zuffa are working on one of the big games of 2012 with UFC Undisputed 3, the new installment in the critically acclaimed and best-selling mixed martial arts (MMA) videogame franchise based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The game is poised to take players inside the virtual Octagon with extensive focus on intense toe-to-toe combat, impressive visual presentation and significantly increased accessibility, including the introduction of PRIDE Mode, two new weight classes and an impressive playable roster of more than 150 UFC fighters. UFC Undisputed 3 is currently in development for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is scheduled to hit store shelves in January 2012.
