Maybe there will be a mini-game in a future Ubisoft Shaun White Skateboarding game in which players are challenged to pull the fire alarm at a hotel and then evade arrest. That real-life scenario transpired this weekend in Nashville, where the US gold medalist was arrested for public intoxication and vandalism. The two-sport X-Games champion has had a pair of video game franchises from Ubisoft in 2009 and 2010. It’s been quiet since then, as has White, but we got him to talk his game during his promotional tour for Shaun White Skateboarding below.

It's not a bad premise. What would happen if all the world's power ceased to exist? No cars, no electricity, no mechanics, no technology, no medicine. Basic necessities (like clean water and food) define life or death and basic amenities (like toilet paper) become a thing in the past. It really is a cool idea: Bows and arrows, horse drawn pick up trucks, the word "Google" being spoken in awed whispers. And it's got some excellent names on its roster: JJ Abrams (Lost, Star Trek 09) and Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Cowboys and Aliens). All and all, it looks like it could be a winner. But then again, so did Terra Nova. So while I was generally impressed with the pilot, and really want to see the show do well, I think it needs to step it up a notch if it wants to last more than a Terra Novan season.

With Sony Pictures’ Resident Evil: Retribution ruling the box office opening weekend with $21.1 million, the creators from Impact Pictures are already looking ahead. Jeremy Bolt, who has produced all five films, believes the sixth film could wrap up the franchise. Although it’s worth noting he’s said that before, as well.

There is an old-classic feeling in Anomaly Warzone Earth that cannot be shaken off. Seemingly coming from a time where game could be simpler and when player would be less regarding on small Deus Ex Machina or other writing slipups, the game actually brings a very fresh simplicity to the genre.  It is the same sense of innocence that we enjoy when John McLane survives an entire movie of bullet dodging, non-burning explosions and painless punches. It makes for a light but very enjoyable game without pretention and for a very good price on the PSN.

This time around, there’s a good and an evil version of Rain Campos – a character that was killed in the original film, which served as a prequel to the Capcom game franchise. The game industry is giving back to American troops who have dedicated their lives to serve and protect. Parties organized by gamers across the country this fall will raise funds to send video games and consoles to U.S. troops deployed to Afghanistan. The events, part of Operation Supply Drop’s national Veterans Day "8-Bit Salute to Veterans," will be held in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Gamers everywhere are invited to participate.

In all of my gaming years, I’ve never enjoyed a hearty chuckle while holding back the urge to throw my keyboard at the wall in frustration. That is until Bust-N-Rush, the first title by Techtonic Games, was released. Currently only available for Windows, Bust-N-Rush is a straightforward ‘runner’ game, similar to another famous indie game Audiosurf. You play as a juggernaut-like hero named Kovo who was forced out of retirement early by the untimely destruction of his plastic flamingo lawn ornament named Paco. With a shake of his mighty fist, Kovo sets out to exact revenge on Paco’s killer, the monstrous Satellite of Wub.

LOS ANGELES – Actress Milla Jovovich reprises her role as Alice in the fifth Resident Evil movie. Gamers are getting a triple threat of content this fall with Resident Evil: Retribution from Sony Pictures, Resident Evil 6 from Capcom and Resident Evil: Damnation from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Jovovich, who is married to the film’s director, Paul Anderson, talks about bringing Alice over to the video game franchise in the video below.

NCsoft and ArenaNet have another success in the massively multiplayer online (MMO) games space. Guild Wars 2 has crossed the 2 million units sold threshold in under two weeks. And that would likely have come quicker had the company not temporarily halted first-party sales to maintain an optimal player experience. With the game back on sale, it quickly surpassed the milestone.

Consumers are spending more money on digital movies and television shows thanks to the growth of tablets and other digital devices. Digital formats such as electronic sell-through, VOD, and subscription streaming grew 51% in 2011 and 74% in the first quarter of 2012 according to the D2 Report: Discs & Digital – The Business of Home Entertainment Retailing. The Report was released today by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA). Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will unleash the Pixar hit Brave on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD this fall, which is expected to help boost Christmas sales.

During Nintendo's press conference in New York City, Satoru Iwata revealed that Platinum Games is making Bayonetta 2. Most importantly, the sequel would be a exclusive for the Wii U. After he spoke, a teaser trailer appeared showing no gameplay, but showing the main sexy protagonist would be back for the next installment.
