In celebration of Comic Con and THQ’s upcoming release of Red Faction: Armageddon, set on celestial Mars, Major League Eater Joey Chestnut will ravage through a heap of Mars Bars as he strives to set a new Guinness World Records achievement for Most Chocolate Bars to Be Eaten in One Minute. The record breaking event will take place at the Tin Fish Restaurant, directly across from Comic Con, on July 22nd at 1:30 pm and be overseen by Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, who will act as the record officiator.

Disney Interactive Studios today announced that the highly-anticipated Disney Epic Mickey video game will be featured at the upcoming Comic Con International show in San Diego. Disney Epic Mickey will be presented in a panel discussion taking place on Saturday, July 24th at 4:30 p.m. at the San Diego Convention Center, Room 9.

THQ and Syfy will have plenty to show at Comic Con 2010 in San Diego. The companies announced a first-of-a-kind transmedia deal to debut Red Faction: OriginsT (working title), a two hour live-action movie pilot scheduled to air in March 2011 on Syfy.  The story of Red Faction: Origins follows the lineage of rebel hero Alec Mason and the Mason family, set during a period between the critically acclaimed Red Faction: Guerrilla video game and the recently announced and highly anticipated Red Faction: Armageddon video game, also scheduled for release in March 2011.

At the 2010 Comic-Con International in San Diego, comics creator and Sony Art Director Mat Broome will be on-hand to showcase the first glimpse at two new innovative projects. The first announcement is of a new creator-owned comic series, following in the footsteps of his last creator-owned series The End League with Rick Remender. Broome's second announcement will be of an innovative online start-up that will bring together the top creative minds of comics, video games, film, television and music. Bethesda Softworks announced that “All Roads”, the hardcover graphic novel which tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas, will feature cover art created by legendary illustrator and comic book artist Geof Darrow with colors by Peter Doherty. The graphic novel also features art by Jean Diaz (Incorruptible) and Wellinton Alves (Marvel’s Shadowland: Blood on the Streets, Nova). The full cover illustration will be revealed at Comic Con 2010 in San Diego.

Sony Pictures is unleashing the first 3D videogame adaptation on Saturday at Comic Con 2010. Filmed using the same camera system as James Cameron’s Avatar, Resident Evil: Afterlife will be shown in Hall H on Saturday at 4pm in front of a packed crowd.

As part of a multi-tiered programming, digital and marketing campaign custom-designed for the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, SHOWTIME announced the launch of Dexter Game On (DexterGameOn.com), an interactive promotional game that will take place simultaneously at San Diego Comic-Con and in five other major cities across the U.S. from Wednesday, July 21 to Sunday, July 25. SHOWTIME has worked with SCVNGR – an iPhone and Android-based application that is all about going places, doing challenges and earning points – to build DEXTER-themed challenges for the game. The collaboration marks the first time that a television network has teamed up with SCVNGR.
