At E3 2010, Sony showed off its new augmented reality game, EyePet. Now Qualcomm Incorporated has unveiled plans to offer an augmented reality platform and software development kit (SDK) to enable a new generation of vision-based augmented reality applications.  Initially available for Android devices, Qualcomm’s augmented reality platform will enable developers to build applications that merge reality and cyberspace.  The SDK will be made available at no charge to developers for use in the development and distribution of commercial applications.

Joystick Labs announced Tuesday it is accepting applications for the first seed-stage venture fund and accelerator program focused exclusively on the development of digitally distributed video games.  Juan Benito, a veteran executive of the gaming industry, co-founded Joystick Labs to help independent game developers bridge the gap between having a great game idea and producing a game.

Hulu will bring its new $10 per month TV subscription services to multiple devices in the U.S. beginning this July. With the country now a theatre of influence, you’re sent in as a sniper with a group of covert commandos to take out the regime. Activision has a new shooter hitting Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC that just hit store shelves. The team at Raven Software has been working on Singularity, a shooter with a time-traveling twist that takes players from a near future back to the 1950s. The action is set on a Russian island called Katorga-12, where the Soviets discovered a strange new element, E-99, that they believed could end the Cold War once and for all. Long story short, the experiment is rushed and botched and the Russians rip a hole through time and space with horrible results.
