COLOGNE, GERMANY -- Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) used its Gamescom 2012 press conference to reveal new features to PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) through the system software update version 1.80, scheduled on August 28, 2012. SCE will also expand PlayStation Plus, the subscription service package on PlayStation Network which brings value-added offerings including exclusive services and content, to PS Vita users this year. In addition, new games will offer a Cross-Buy option, which eliminates the need to purchase both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita version of the same game. The program will go into effect with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, allowing any PS3 game purchaser to get the PS Vita version absolutely free.
