Angry Birds Launch into Space with Multimedia Blast

After making its debut at SXSW, the rest of the gaming world can now play Rovio Entertainment’s Angry Birds Space on Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. Angry Birds Space marks the first integrated entertainment launch for Rovio, with merchandise, animation and books available in retail at the same time as the game. Gamestop Enters Android Tablet Business Riding Apple Success

In the months since GameStop began accepting trades on the iPod, iPhone and iPad, the company has seen strong consumer enthusiasm for the program. GameStop customers are taking advantage of this new option to put money in their pockets or use store credit to pay for video games, consoles and pre-owned gaming tablets and mobile devices by scoring trade credit. Customers can receive up to $180 for an iPod Touch, up to $300 for an iPhone and up to $400 for an iPad.

Batman Blasts Through Christmas with Records for Arkham City and Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is experiencing record sales for Rockstar Studios’ critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City this Christmas season. And the new trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ The Dark Knight Rises has smashed the record for most combined downloads through the iTunes Movie Trailers site and the iTunes Trailers iOS app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The trailer was viewed more than 12.5 million times in its first 24 hours on December 19, breaking the previous record by well over two million. The HD trailer can be viewed below.

Comic-Con 2011: Conan the Barbarian Gets New Chillingo Mobile Games

Paradox Entertainment, producer of the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie starring Jason Momoa, has signed a deal with Electronic Arts-owned Chillingo to bring video games based on the barbarian to Apple iOS devices like iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The first game will launch this summer in tandem with the movie. In addition, new game content based on the movie is coming to Funcom’s free-to-play Age of Conan: Unchained PC massively multiplayer online (MMO) game.

Electronic Arts Focuses on Core Franchises, Fewer Games at E3 2011

Electronic Arts is once again hosting an E3 press conference, called Gamechangers: EA 2011, before the official video game convention opens its doors. Will Nintendo's Next Console Focus On Core Gamers?

 Many gamers who grew up with Nintendo have been disappointed with the Wii for its heavy emphasis on casual gaming. There have been releases featuring the likes of Zelda and Metroid, but those have been few and far between. With the wheels of a new generation of consoles starting to go into motion, a lot of people are wondering what Nintendo's next move will be. Many wish that the next console will have more emphasis on the core gamers as opposed to the Wii. I happen to believe that Nintendo will stay its course and continue to focus on the casual gaming audience.

GDC 2011: Apple Introduces iOS 4.3 with New Gaming Capabilities for iPad 2 and iPhone 4
SAN FRANCISCO, California – Across the street from GDC 2011, Apple’s Steve Jobs introduced iOS 4.3, the latest version of the company’s mobile operating system. New features in iOS 4.3 include faster Safari mobile browsing performance with the Nitro JavaScript engine; iTunes Home Sharing; enhancements to AirPlay; the choice of using the iPad side switch to either lock the screen rotation or mute the audio; and the Personal Hotspot feature for sharing an iPhone 4 cellular data connection over Wi-Fi. 2K Sports Uses 2011 NHL All-Star Game to Announce NHL 2K11 for Apple iPad
RALEIGH, North Carolina -- 2K Sports has had success with NHL 2K11 on Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. Now the sports video game maker is bringing the franchise to Apple’s popular iPad. Mike Rhinehart, senior brand manager at 2K Sports, who was at the 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend in Raleigh, said that NHL 2K11 is coming to iPad with all-new features to take advantage of the larger screen and touch pad. 2K Sports cover athlete Ryan Kesler was at the 2K Sports booth at NHL Fan Fair to sign autographs and check out the NHL 2K11 bus.

Apple's App Store Tops 10 Billion Downloads Worldwide
Even without Steve Jobs in charge, Apple continues to push forward with new games, a new Verizon Wireless iPhone 4, and a record number of apps. Gamers and other consumers have downloaded more than 10 billion apps through Apple’s App Store. Over 160 million iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users worldwide have visited the App Store on iTunes since launch. At CES 2011, new apps were on display, including iConnect, which is featured in the video below.

LAS VEGAS -- Disney Publishing used the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2001) to announce that it has reached an important milestone. The publisher has surpassed 1 million downloads for its Disney Book Apps globally on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.  Mickey’s Spooky Night Puzzle Book, Princess Dress-Up: My Sticker Book, Toy Story 3 Read-Along and Winnie the Pooh: What’s a Bear to Do? CES 2011: GEAR4 Takes Control with New UnityRemote and Angry Birds Devices

Disney Epic Mickey App Offers Gamers Digital Comics
Disney Publishing Worldwide has launched its Disney Epic Mickey App for viewing Disney Digicomics on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch on the App store. The first Disney Digicomic available in the app is “Tales of Wasteland,” which comprise six eight-page short comic stories that take place in Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts. Users get a preview of Wasteland and feature characters from the upcoming Disney Epic Mickey video game, including Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star. Big Games of 2010: Zombies Invade Call of Duty: Black Ops
