Throughout the history of video games, the oldest stereotype surrounding the industry has always been do violent video games affect player behavior and personality. It is a known fact that people who play games are exposed to more violence than the average consumer. From nuking entire civilization to obliterating players online, it’s has become more and more common now that games are more focus on squarely providing violent action. For this reason alone, parents have long held an underlining negative attitude towards the industry and those who stand by it, but is this criticism injustice or have developers gone to far? Blizzard Entertainment today released a lot of new details today about the fourth expansion of its "World of Warcraft" franchise it announced at the last BlizzCon, "World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria." Blizzard Entertainment will unleash one of the big games of 2012, Diablo III, the next chapter in its critically acclaimed action role-playing game series, on May 15. Starting that day, gamers with a thirst for fast-paced action and adventure will be able to purchase Diablo III at retailers throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. In addition, gamers in the regions above as well as in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil will be able to buy Diablo III digitally via Blizzard’s Battle.net website.

Last week’s announcement of a new iPad didn’t really surprise anyone, did it?  We knew that that Apple would announce a device that would FINALLY take advantage of a retina display.  We knew that it would have high definition possibilities.  And we called the new camera too, natch.  But what we didn’t know was that Chair Entertainment, the company behind the Infinity Blade games, had a killer app waiting in the wings.  Guess it’s nice to have one surprise waiting for us.

Consoles and PC's have had a slow month interms of new AAA quality games arriving for your respected platform. While January got off to a slow start, it quickly recovered to bring us high quality tittles through digital distribution. Plenty of great downloadable arcade tittles were made available through XBLA, PSN and Steam, giving us many hidden gems on the digital marketplace. Let's look back at the games we reviewed over the past month.

Awhile back during Blizzard's Gamescom press conference, Josh Mosqueira said that Blizzard " Is very,very serious" about bringing the Diablo III experience to the console. Well it appears after months of delay, we are actually geting our wish.

The PC gaming community was pretty much abuzz all this weekend, when a Minnesota-based Best Buy reportedly put up a stand in its store, indicating that Diablo III, Activision Blizzard's monstrous new sequel, was coming sooner than expected.  The standee indicated that the game was releasing on February 1st, a date that sent a lot of folks into a frenzy to pre-order it and attend their midnight party.  Well, it's going to be a sad, lonely outing, because Blizzard responded in regards the release date.

After weeks of voting, Major League Gaming (MLG) Pro Players have chosen the best of 2011.  MLG has revealed the winners of the 2011 MLG Pros’ Choice Awards. Pros voted on each other in various categories across three MLG 2011 Pro Circuit titles - Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach to determine the best of the best. The Stride Longest Lasting Player awards went to Naniwa (Starcraft II), Jkap (Call of Duty: Black Ops) and Pistola (Halo: Reach), while the breakout player awards were given to Leenock (Starcraft II), John (Call of Duty: Black Ops) and Formal (Halo: Reach).

The holiday season is officially upon us at sundown tonight. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation’s 14th annual “Nite to Unite – for Kids” gala raised $900,000 to support the Foundation’s work on behalf of America’s youth. The proceeds from the annual dinner, auction and charity casino night will enable the ESA Foundation, the video game industry’s philanthropic arm, to improve the lives of children through grants to a wide variety of organizations, as well as a college scholarship program.

ANAHEIM -- Blizzard Entertainment enlisted actor Jay Mohr to host its annual cosplay costume contest. Fans dressed in elaborate costumes from hit games like Diablo III, StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Cataclysm. Amidst news surrounding the free Diablo III to all WoW gamers and a brand new expansion pack, Mists of Pandaria, fans celebrating gaming all around. ANAHEIM -- The Foo Fighters put a loud and vibrant conclusion to this year's version of Blizzard's annual fanfest BlizzCon last night. World of Warcraft fans were certainly rewarded with the new "Mists of Pandaria" expansion reveal. We caught up with Lead Quest Designer Dave Kosak to give is an exclusive preview of  what we can expect in the new expansion pack in this video interview after the break.

ANAHEIM -- After the Costume Contest at BlizzCon, comedian Jay Mohr kept the hits coming with the Intel Dance Contest. 31 competitors took the stage with a lot of interesting (and sometimes embarrasing) interpretations of various dances like the Goblin. With names like orc, troll and dwarf, you know this is a BlizzCon dance contest. Check out Mohr introducing the winners with highlights of each winner's dances after the break.

ANAHEIM -- Blizzard held the popular NVIDIA Costume Contest on the main stage at BlzzCon. There were a lot of cool costumes but Avery Faith and her Starcraft II Adjutant costume took the big prize. Comedian Jay Mohn congratulated Faith on her amazing costume as well as the two runner-ups. Christopher White took second place with his Paladin with Ashbringer costume and Justin Floyd took third place with his Deathwing costume. ANAHEIM -- BlizzCon has come to a close but there were lots of new and exciting revealations revealed by Blizzard. On the Starcraft II front, Blizzard developers showed off more from the upcoming expansion Heart of the Swarm as well as new multiplayer units and a preview of Blizzard DOTA. We caught up with Starcraft II Production Designer Chris Sigaty as he gave us a preview in this exclusive video interview after the break.
