With competition about to start in South Africa, EA Sports has already picked the winner. And the FIFA World Cup Trophy goes to … Spain! Electronic Arts declared the winner of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Using the market-leading EA Sports soccer engine that drives 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, EA was able to simulate the 2010 FIFA World Cup and test all 32 teams under the same conditions they will face in the weeks ahead. It was determined that Spain will defeat Brazil 3-1 at Soccer City on July 11 to win its first World Cup.

Just in time to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa in 3D, Sony Electronics will ship its first Bravia 3D TVs and Blu-ray 3D players to Europe this June. The company announced a package of products, services and free content, comprising four compelling reasons for consumers to make their first 3D TV experience a Sony one. Sony has yet to announce details for its North American 3D plans, but similar free 3D games and movie offerings are expected.

With James Cameron’s Avatar continuing to rule the global box office, 3D remains more than just a fad in Hollywood. At CES 2010, electronics giants like Sony, Panasonic, LG and Samsung showcased 3D TVs for the home. Now EA Sports President Peter Moore, who was in Europe for an international press event showcasing new 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa videogames, has chimed in on 3D games.
