When we first caught a glimpse of Borderlands 2 last year at PAX Prime, Gearbox Software promised nothing but bigger and better for the first-person shooter, with bigger environments, more enemies and a new class of soldiers to replace the old ones.  This past month, 2K Games invited us out to take the game through a road test, just to show us that Gearbox was indeed a company of its word.  Not that we ever doubted them, but, hey, we jumped.

The second we laid eyes on the first gameplay footage of Borderlands 2 last August at PAX Prime, we knew we were in for something special.  Gearbox Software not only includes all the components that made the original “role-playing shooter” such a vast success, but also made incredible pushes forward in other areas.  Along with literally a “bazillioner” guns included (they even stacked them up in one part of the demo to show us how much was in there), they threw in new characters, bigger outdoor environments and a whole lot of trouble.  And the best part, we’re gonna be partaking in this madness during the first month of fall.

Gearbox Software is developing a cel-shaded sequel to its Unreal Engine 3 hit, Borderlands. One of the big games of 2012, 2K Games will ship Borderlands 2 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Combining invention and evolution, the sequel features all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.

There were a lot of memorable moments that came about in 2K Games' Borderlands when it released in 2010.  Dancing robots.  Huge explosions.  A mammoth boss battle or two.  Then there's Crazy Earl, a character that not only stood out in his own right with his craziness, but also expanded the campaign by adding various missions that we didn't see coming.  Well, hang onto your hats, boys and girls, because he's coming back with a vengeance.

It's not often you see a company reward its attendees when they come to their panel, aside from telling some great stories and entertaining them, of course.  We're talking PHYSICAL rewards.  But Gearbox Software actually turned a few heads at its panel, not only bringing 140 pizzas to feed its happy, hungry attendees, but giving them an unexpected bonus -- its upcoming 2K Games release Borderlands 2.

Penny Arcade Expo 2011 (PAX for short) is rapidly approaching, and Sega is set to take center stage with its massive game line-up, including a playable version of Gearbox's upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines.  Before we get crazy and waste every alien in sight, we thought we'd share how intense the experience gets with the game's debut trailer, featuring some crazy game footage.  Game over, man!

If anything is inevitable in the video game industry, it's that if a video game is successful, a sequel -- or maybe more -- will follow.  This has been proven time and time again, and this year alone will bring a series of sequels to the forefront, including Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3 and more.  Now rumors are circling that 2K Games' open world shooter Borderlands will be getting a sequel sometime next year.  To which we say, "Um, surprise?  We knew this already."

Gearbox Software has reinvented its next-generation sci-fi shooter game, Borderlands, with a new cel-shaded look that automatically separates it from anything else out there. The game, which was always powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3, took a turn last year when the decision was made to launch in holiday 2009. That gave the team’s art department a lot more time than they had originally planned for.
