 It's been a rough week and a half for PS3 owners with the PSN being down, but the good news is that everything will start getting back up to speed this week. For the time being, you may have been struggling figuring out what to play because you very well may have a lot of titles with multiplayer. No need to worry since that will no longer be the case in a matter of days. But just for fun, I wanted to make up a list of the 5 games that offer the best offline experiences on the PS3. And just to take things further, none of the titles can have multiplayer contained in them. Also, any multiplayer added via DLC does not count as we are looking at the game in its original package minus added content. The only thing that is acceptable is online leaderboards.

While the video game industry is unveiling new games in Las Vegas as CES 2011, Hollywood is recognizing the advances in video game storytelling. Thanks to new technology on consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and more investment in the overall game experience, interactive storytelling is advancing. The Writers Guild of America West and the Writers Guild of America East have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in video game writing during 2010. Jeffrey Yohalem, writer of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, talks about the inspiration of the new game in Rome.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sony has huge plans for God of War 3, including a major marketing blitzkrieg that is on-going with Slurpees at 7-11, television commercials and spinoffs like comic books and novels. There’s even a Hollywood movie in development at Sony Pictures. Sony used GDC 2010 to celebrate the March 16th launch of God of War 3 early by featuring the game at its large booth on the show floor, having playable versions at its PlayStation Blog Lounge at the W Hotel, and throwing a God of War 3 party.

Sony had near-final versions of God of War 3 playing at the NBA All-Star Players’ Lounge and at the DICE 2010 Game Room. The game contains a sex mini-game, which has been a staple in the franchise. The scene occurs over half-way into the new adventure.

DALLAS, Texas - Nate Robinson beat out Raptors’ rookie DeMar DeRozan at the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest at 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas Saturday night. Nate Robinson became the first three time Slam Dunk Contest champion as well as the first repeat winner of the title. Robinson received 51% of fan votes to edge DeRozan who won the Slam Dunk-In Friday night over Clippers’ Eric Gordon to be the fourth participant in the Slam Dunk Contest. “Krypto-Nate,” the nickname he earned jumping over Superman Dwight Howard to win the Slam Dunk Contest last year, promptly retired from slam dunking on top saying “No more titles. I’m finished. It’s the last one.”

DALLAS, Texas - NBA rookie DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors and sophmore Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers faced off in the first NBA “Slam Dunk-In' on Friday night that took place during halftime of the NBA Rookie Challenge. The winner, as voted on by fans, would end up joining two-time winner Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, Gerald Wallace of the Charlotte Bobcats, and Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday night.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced it will debut the original competition reality series, The Tester, on PlayStation Network for free download starting February 18, 2010. In the webisode series, 11 hopeful gamers from across the country will compete in grueling physical and mental challenges to win a position as a game tester at SCEA and a $5,000 signing bonus, all under the scrutiny of a panel of judges, including actor/comedian and diehard gamer Hal Sparks.  With the launch of The Tester, available for digital download only on PlayStation 3 (PS3™) and PSP entertainment systems, SCEA further expands the current library of original and exclusive content on PlayStation Network.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has partnered with 7-Eleven and Mountain Dew to promote the march 16th launch of God of War III on PlayStation 3. The partners have an exclusive promotion focusing on the upcoming PlayStation 3 game that kicks off February 1. Participating 7-Eleven locations will feature Kratos Fury, a custom-themed God of War-flavored Slurpee drink and a series of four exclusive Slurpee cups with never-before-seen God of War artwork.  The program is exclusive to 7-Eleven stores and is the first of its kind for the popular God of War franchise.

The "VGAs" are going global. Sony Pictures Television has acquired the "Video Game Awards 2009" ("VGAs") for its Animax channels. The event will broadcast on Animax channels across Asia, Central Europe, Latin America, Brazil, Africa, Spain and Portugal, reaching over 42 million households in 59 countries beginning in January 2010. Animax will support the VGAs on animaxtv.com with a dedicated suite of web content designed to fuel gamer interest around the world and to complement the on-air experience.
