We've seen countless video games based on the Aliens franchise over the years, both for arcade and for home, and while they may have been exciting, they're hardly the sort of thing that we'd call in-depth.  In fact, the closest we could come to feeling like we were in a true Aliens experience comes down to two games -- the 1990 Konami arcade game and last year's Nintendo DS release Aliens: Infestation.  But that'll change this fall when Gearbox, the studio behind Borderlands, will team up with Sega for Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game that really dials in the feeling of the 1986 James Cameron cinematic classic.

James Cameron made Avatar to take advantage of 3D technology, but the Oscar-winning filmmaker also made sure that the film would play well in 2D. And although he originally said the experience was designed for a large screen, Avatar has been a hit on mobile devices. The movie comes pre-installed on the T-Mobile Samsung Virbant Galaxy S. Now Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lightstorm Entertainment are bringing a first-of-its-kind interactive version of the film called Avatar iTunes Extras Special Edition beginning on Tuesday, December 20. Oscar-winning writer, director and producer James Cameron and business partner Vince Pace will keynote the fourth annual 3D Entertainment Summit. The event will take place Sept. 20-22 at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles. As part of the summit, a full day will be devoted to video games, 3D Gaming and Beyond. Cameron worked with Ubisoft to develop a 3D Avatar game, which shipped before the number one movie of all time hit theaters.

(Reuters) - Since director James Cameron's "Avatar" raked in $2.8 billion at global box offices, Hollywood has flooded theaters with wave after wave of 3D movies, but some industry watchers wonder if theatergoers are now drowning in it.

Oscar-winning director James Cameron is returning to the Titanic once again. After filming numerous 3D films on the sunken ship, the Avatar director is giving his Academy Award-winning film a 3D conversion. The movie will hit theaters worldwide on April 6, 2012 from Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment. The release marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail (April 10th).

LAS VEGAS -- Legendary filmmaker and 3D visionary, James Cameron has teamed up with acclaimed cinematographer and fellow 3D pioneer, Vince Pace to form CAMERON - PACE Group (CPG), which seeks to accelerate worldwide growth of 3D across all entertainment platforms including features, episodic and live television, sports, advertising and consumer products including video games, pioneering a new generation of camera systems, services and a variety of creative tools that are innovative, powerful and easier to embrace. Cameron and Pace unveiled the new company this morning during a press conference at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Oscar winning director James Cameron is busy working on the script for AVATAR 2, which 20th Century Fox has slated for a December 2014 release. The director will be honored by the International 3D Society on February 9th at Grauman’s Chinese Theater with the inaugural Harold Lloyd Award, which honors outstanding achievement in 3D filmmaking and advocacy. The multiple Academy Award winner has been busy of late, producing the new 3D action film Sanctum, writing the novelization of AVATAR, along with the script for AVATAR 3, and turning Titanic into a 3D spectacle. He told the Wall Street Journal the AVATAR sequels will employ new 3D technology that will help combat the motion sickness that some audiences experience with 3D movies.

 While TRON: Legacy is not breaking box office records like James Cameron’s AVATAR did last year, Disney’s 3D sequel is holding strong in 2011. In fact, Jeff Bridges, who plays video game designer Kevin Flynn in TRON, is having a very good year. His Western, True Grit, was the number one movie in the U.S. this weekend. True Grit has now topped $110 million and buzz is building for another Oscar nomination for Bridges, who took home the statue last year. Now James Cameron’s AVATAR and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops have something in common in the entertainment landscape besides 3D. Activision has ruled the game sales charts for two years running with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and now Call of Duty: Black Ops. Generations of fans who waited over 28 years to see Walt Disney Studio’s TRON return to the big screen were eager to catch the film early. TRON: Legacy took in $3.5 million in its midnight screenings around the U.S., which was on par with James Cameron’s AVATAR. The movie’s total Friday box office haul was $18 million. The original movie’s entire theatrical run during the summer of 1982, which included movies like Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, was $33 million.
