Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is experiencing record sales for Rockstar Studios’ critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City this Christmas season. And the new trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ The Dark Knight Rises has smashed the record for most combined downloads through the iTunes Movie Trailers site and the iTunes Trailers iOS app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The trailer was viewed more than 12.5 million times in its first 24 hours on December 19, breaking the previous record by well over two million. The HD trailer can be viewed below.

Nintendo needed a hit for its Nintendo 3DS and it got one. After just 11 Days on store shelves, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has sold over 283,000 copies in the U.S. alone. The game finished June as the No. 2 best-selling video game on an individual platform, according to the independent NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States.

At Computex 2011, NVIDIA demonstrated a new addition to the NVIDIA 3D Vision product family with the NVIDIA 3D Vision wired glasses at Computex 2011.  The new glasses make the 3D PC experience more affordable at $99, while offering the same award-winning 3D quality and features of 3D Vision wireless glasses. The glasses will hit retail shelves in late June and will be on display at E3 2011 in Los Angeles.

2K Games and Gearbox Software are overly-excited to announce that eager Duke Nukem First Access Club members will be the first to properly stimulate their joysticks playing the demo of the highly-anticipated Duke Nukem Forever beginning June 3, 2011. Over 15 years in the making, Duke Nukem Forever will launch for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 14 in North America. While Nintendo is charging more for Nintendo 3DS games and hardware, everything else is coming down in price. The Wii hardware price has been slashed to $170 and Internet reports suggest that Nintendo could cut another $20 off that price by June as it faces stronger competition from Sony and Microsoft at retail. The price cut is also a precursor to the rumoroed Wii HD console announcement that's expected at E3 in June. In addition, Nintendo has made two of its bestselling games $10 cheaper. Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party will retail for $40 each starting April 25.

SAN FRANCISCO – WonderCon 2011 attendees will get an early look at both the new 3D Green Lantern movie and the video game. Ryan Reynolds will be on hand during a panel at the 25th anniversary of the pop culture show. And Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment will have Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters available to play. The new game will be available in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii and Nintendo DS versions will be in 2D. With the game shipping on June 7, gamers will get a 10-day advance before checking out the blockbuster movie in theaters.

In the month of June, U.S. sales of Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Wii system reached 548,000 units, according to the independent NPD Group, bringing the game’s cumulative nationwide sales to more than 1.1 million units. Also in June, Nintendo systems sold a combined 933,000 units, accounting for 50 percent of all gaming hardware units sold in the United States. The Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems topped the charts with more than 510,000 units sold, bringing life-to-date unit sales to nearly 42 million. Wii system sales totaled more than 422,000, closing in on a cumulative milestone of 30 million units sold in the United States alone.

With Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo showing off the latest motion-sensor games at E3 2010 in Los Angeles last week, Softkinetic, Optrima and Metrological Media Innovations have partnered to offer set-top-box and television manufacturers an integrated 3D gesture-based solution that will transform home entertainment. In addition, Softkinetic and Optrima technologies will be offered to media service operators as part of Metrological’s Mediaconnect TV system, enabling Metrological to provide their global customer base with 3D gesture-based interfaces, video games and other interactive gesture-based applications. The commercial deployment of Mediaconnect TV begins in Europe in the coming weeks and is expected to begin in North America by fall of this year.

Just in time for this June’s World Cup 2010 in South Africa, EA Sports is offering a free soccer game for PC. Electronic Arts  is developing a downloadable game called EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online that will make its most popular and highest rated^ videogame franchise available to soccer fans with a broadband internet connection and an average spec laptop computer or desk-top personal computer. The free-to-play EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer videogame will call on soccer fans and gamers to help shape features during closed beta testing prior to its English language European open beta release in June 2010.
