The Electronic Entertainment Expo is only a few weeks away from happening, and gamers everywhere are gearing up to hear more about the event, including upcoming game reveals and details on big hits.  But not everyone gets to share in the fun, as the event is strictly for industry only.  So if you were hoping to get in with your fan-made website, you might have a problem.  But not to worry.  There’s still plenty to do around the event…

Every year, video game companies go all out at one specific event – the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which takes place every year in Los Angeles around June.  Here, companies like to show off what lies ahead in the next twelve to fifteen months, big projects, small uprisings, little advancements to their hardware…that sort of thing.  We’ve been to a lot of shows now, and they’ve been impressive, but E3 2012 should be an even bigger year, thanks to what the companies are bringing.

Globex Studios announced the release of Secret Kingdoms for the IOS  based on the company’s Chinese based MMO, Secret Kingdoms Online.  It's  their first title to introduce the world of Secret Kingdoms by a team made up of former developers from Pandemic Studios game and their China based counterparts.

God of War: Ascension was confirmed a few days ago by Sony after months of (badly) being kept secret by the company, and while many are interested in seeing the origins of the series’ violent hero, Kratos, there’s a new element that’s even more interesting.  Sony recently invited us down to an event in Los Angeles to get a first look at the game, but instead of seeing any aspect of single player, we were treated to a glimpse at the proposed multiplayer mode.

LOS ANGELES – Sony is readying the PlayStation 3 air and ground shooter Starhawk for launch. The LightBox Interactive team has been creating a massive world for gamers to explore as protagonist Emmett Graves. LOS ANGELES -- Two of the NFL’s best reconvened in Los Angeles for a Super Bowl rematch playing Call of Duty in an Epic Grudge Match. Super Bowl Champ Ahmad Bradshaw of the New York Giants took on Pro Bowler Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots in Los Angeles. The two played new Collection 1 DLC for Modern Warfare 3. The new DLC is stockpiled with not only four Multiplayer/Survival Mode Maps, but two Special Ops Missions, giving players six pieces of content, a first for the franchise. Nintendo and GameStop invited fans of multiplayer video game action to face off in an epic tournament. The tournament was held at GameStop stores in San Francisco, Orlando, and Los Angeles to celebrate the March 23 launch of Kid Icarus: Uprising on Nintendo 3DS. Gamers in LA competed for a trip to New York, where three winners from each regional tournament will compete in the finals to be crowned the nationwide champion. This tournament was open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis with the finals to be held March 22 in the Big Apple.

According to Forbes, pop singing sensation Justin Bieber spent a day performing motion-capture for NBA 2K13. 2K Sports worked with Bieber and his crew in Los Angeles on February 21st to capture their hoops moves, possibly for the game’s rumored celebrity street ball mode.

While many NBA All-Stars complain about their ratings and believe they should have higher numbers, Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo surprised the gaming world last year in Los Angeles by saying his character was overrated. German online game publisher Bigpoint has surpassed 250 million registered players for its free-to-play (F2P), browser-based online games. Bigpoint, which has established a global publishing network of over 1,000 game portals, social networks, and media sites, attracts over 250,000 new players to its key titles every day. The company has targeted U.S. gamers with titles like Battlestar Galactica Online, Drakensang Online, Dark Orbit, and Farmerama. The game makers were in Los Angeles for E3 last year, where they held a party at the Playboy Mansion.

LOS ANGELES – 20th Century Fox has enlisted first-time director Josh Trank with a brand new superhero franchise. And for good reason. He created it with screenwriter Max Landis (Frankenstein). Chronicle, which hits theaters February 3, 2012, follows the thrilling journey of a trio of teenage boys who uncover super powers in Seattle.  The thriller was filmed in the found footage sub-genre made popular by movies like Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity. Chronicle is shaping up to be one of the big movies of 2012, as the trailer below shows.

The Consumer Electronics Show 2012 kicks off in Las Vegas in just a few days, and anyone who's anyone in the electronics world will be at the event, showcasing new tablets, TV's and other consumer technology.  That said, expect video games to have a presence as well, with Nintendo attending the event and Sony showing off its PlayStation Vita.  But will there be hints in regards to the next level of video game consoles?  Perhaps...

Every year I set out to attend the Gamers United holiday event in Los Angeles, for two reasons.  One, I like helping out for a good cause, in this case providing games to sick kids to help them get through their tough times.  Second, it's a good opportunity to see friends and simply have fun, something I definitely could use during any given holiday season.  So, without further ado, here's the report from the event...

Amongst the highlights from last night's Spike Video Game Awards 2011 was Deadmau5.  The popular mouse-headed DJ had plenty to do on the stage, mixing up tunes during commercial breaks and making his presence felt.  But he made even bigger headlines after the show when he lost something quite vital in the backseat of a taxicab -- his PlayStation Vita.

LOS ANGELES – With the NBA lockout now over and the season set to tip off on Christmas Day, there will be less time for playing videogames. Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love was in Los Angeles, where he played for UCLA, to check out the world’s first 3D sports bar, South by Vizio.
