Twihards were in the mood for love before Valentine’s Day. Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, has continued to make a mint off Stephanie Meyer’s last book in the supernatural love triangle franchise. It was a very smart decision to split the final film into two parts, as the home entertainment release is picking up right where the theatrical release left off. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 sold an estimated 3.2 million DVD and Blu-ray units during its first weekend of release. Summit Entertainment’s fourth installment in the blockbuster TWILIGHT SAGA franchise, BREAKING DAWN – PART 1, has earned over $701.3 million in global box office receipts since the film’s release on November 18, 2011.  The movie’s well on its way to becoming the highest grossing film in the series to date, as it looks to surpass the worldwide box office gross of NEW MOON’s $709.8 million. Actress Ashley Greene talks about working on the films in this exclusive video interview.

Remember all those rumors that were circling when the teaser trailer for Dead Island was first released earlier this year, stating that someone had already grabbed the movie rights before the game was even out?  Yeah, so do we.  Still, we figured it would only be a matter of time before someone stepped up and snagged the rights to give it the movie treatment.  This morning, Lionsgate, the producers behind the Saw franchise and other horror releases, did just that.

LAS VEGAS -- At CES 2011, six of Hollywood’s largest studios including Lionsgate Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment announced their support for the UltraViolet service and format created by the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE).  Complementing the physical DVD and Blu-ray home entertainment markets, studios will begin offering UltraViolet content this year through digital online retailers and digital rights that come with packaged media, giving consumers the ability to watch digital entertainment like Fox' Machete across multiple platforms such as connected TVs, PCs, game consoles and smartphones.

Paradox Entertainment is has begun the production of the first episode of “Age of Conan: Hyboria!,” a comedy web series set in the legendary Conan universe. The web series will utilize the characters, locations and graphics engine from Funcom’s popular massively multiplayer online PC game “Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.” This marks the first time Funcom’s video game engine is being used outside of the interactive realm.

WHA Entertainment announced that award winning composer Anderson Scores has composed the original score for Kick-Ass, the upcoming worldwide game release for Apple iPhone due out April 15, and the Sony PlayStation Network (PSN), launching April 29. Kick-Ass is a superhero action game based on the upcoming major motion picture by the same name.

SAN FRANCISCO -- WHA Entertainment was on hand at GDC 2010 to show off its new Kick-Ass videogame based on the Lionsgate Entertainment movie, which is based on the cult comic book hit from the writers of Wanted (another comic book-turned movie). Kick-Ass will be released for the PlayStation Network and iPhone April 15th. Randall Batinkoff, who stars in the movie alongside Nicolas Cage, is a producer on the videogame and was on hand at the St. Regis Hotel to demo the game.

Actor Michael C. Hall stars in the new Lionsgate Home Entertainment Blu-ray Disc and DVD release, GAMER. The acclaimed actor is having a convergence moment. Best known for playing a serial killer who tries only to kill the bad guys in Showtime’s “Dexter,” Hall can be seen on the small screen as Ken Castle, a videogame tycoon who blends real people with virtual games, in GAMER. Hall has also gone virtual in Marc Ecko Entertainment’s and developer Icarus Studios’ Dexter videogame, which is out now on iPhone and iPod Touch. Hall took some time to talk about his latest movie and his first venture into videogames in this exclusive interview.
