Justin Verlander Announces New Twist for $1 Million Major League Baseball 2K12 Perfect Game Challenge

2K Sports sent Major League Baseball 2K12 cover athlete and reigning American League Most Valuable Player and Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander to “Conan” to announce the evolution of the hugely popular $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge. The Detroit Tigers pitcher explained that this year’s contest, which returns for the third consecutive year, will stage a final eight-person live tournament to crown the new $1 Million champion. Take-Two Interactive is serious about the Asian massively multiplayer online (MMO) market. The game publisher, which has yet to take the MMO plunge in the U.S., has announced its second game for Asia. 2K Games has partnered with XLGAMES to develop and publish a MMO game for the Asian market based upon one of 2K Games’ top-selling franchise. This follows a partnership between 2K Sports and Nexon to develop an MMO baseball game for Asia.

EA Sports Returns to Baseball with World Series Superstars Facebook Game
Just in time for the first pitch on opening day of Major League Baseball, Electronic Arts has returned to the baseball diamond for the first time in years. EA Sports has launched World Series Superstars, a free-to-play baseball game for Facebook, that is licensed by MLB Advanced Media and the MLB Players Association.  EA hasn’t released an MLB game since 2005 with MVP Baseball 06, although it did release two NCAA Baseball games after 2K Sports shut out the sports giant with an exclusive third-party license that will expire in 2012. The Philadelphia Phillies Win Another World Series

Although the boys of summer have just started the action up, the Phillies have already made it to a third World Series in a row and took home the trophy again. 2K Sports announced the final results from its official Major League Baseball 2K10 season simulation, which crowns the Philadelphia Phillies as World Series champions in a projected 4-1 series victory over the Boston Red Sox. The Phillies' double-play combination of Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley proved to be too much for Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon and the Red Sox, with Rollins taking home the World Series MVP award.

They took part in the 2K Sports Home Run Derby without ever breaking a sweat. The entire competition was held on 16 Xbox 360 game consoles using the latest 2K Sports baseball simulation, Major League Baseball 2K9.
