BioWare is at PAX East to show gamers what’s in store with two free DLC offerings that are coming soon. Players can join the fight to save the galaxy with the first multiplayer downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 3. Available to download for owners of Mass Effect 3 for no additional charge, the Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Pack adds two new maps to the game’s critically acclaimed cooperative multiplayer experience, along with a variety of new playable characters, new weapons and new items that can be unlocked by acquiring reinforcement packs in the game’s multiplayer store. The Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Pack will be available for download on April 10 on Xbox LIVE, the Origin client software and PlayStation Network in North America, and PlayStation Network in Europe on April 11.

According to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)’s Theatrical Market Statistics Report for 2011, global box office receipts for all films released around the world reached $32.6 billion, an increase of 3% over 2010, due to ongoing growth of box office in international markets. Each international region experienced box office growth in 2011.  Chinese box office grew by 35% in 2011 alone, by far the largest growth in major markets. This report does not factor in the rising cost of tickets, especially with 3D movies like the hit Relativity film Immortals.

Interactive Entertainment to begin the streaming of the Lord of the Rings and Dungeons & Dragons Online to players across North America directly from each game’s own website. For the first time ever, Gaikai is streaming massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) from the cloud, straight to players without the need for any download or installation.

Hitman: Damnation will be written by author Raymond Benson and will release in North America in summer 2012 before launching internationally. En Masse Entertainment is launching its fantasy massively multiplayer online (MMO) game TERA to North America on May 1, 2012. The upcoming release of TERA will be available in standard and Collector’s Editions at retail and online stores. While the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders practiced below, four lucky winners from Minnesota were able to do something that many have only dreamed of – use North America’s largest video screen to play a videogame. In this case, it was Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Mountain Dew brought Brandon Ervn and three of his closest friends to Dallas as part of its Mega Fan Experience. It's a marketing offshoot with Wal-Mart that's aligned with the Call of Duty Double XP program, which is currently running on MW3 bottles of Mountain Dew beverages. The four guys were able to play quad-screen multiplayer for two hours at Cowboys Stadium, the largest stadium in the world. Ervn talks about what the experience was like to have a custom armchair and Jerry Jones’ stadium all to themselves, except for those cheerleaders, in this exclusive video interview.

ZeniMax Media has shipped 10 million units of Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is expected to generate over $650 million at retail by the time all copies have been sold. The PC version of Skyrim in North America outsold all other PC games by a factor of over three to one in November. Gamers will have some big huge choices to make when it comes to the new Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning fantasy action role-playing game (RPG). The new game from Electronic Arts, Big Huge Games and 38 Studios will be available in three limited edition sets for dedicated Reckoning fans. All three limited editions include a custom parchment map of Amalur, a seven-piece die set, and Destiny Cards. The gaming world has graduated its first US pro race car driver thanks to Gran Turismo 5. Sony’s GT Academy, which was created in partnership with Polyphony Digital and Nissan North America to give consumers a chance to pursue the dream to become a real race car driver through Gran Turismo 5, has proved that the simulation is just like the real world. The winner, Bryan Heitkotter, beat out over 53,000 competitors who registered for GT Academy and is now a Nissan-sponsored professional race car driver and part of a four-person team that will race the 24-hour race in Dubai in January 2012. Heitkotter's journey with GT Academy is currently being shown on the Speed Channel, PlayStation Network, and Hulu, via a reality show series that chronicles the competition and the winner's road to stardom. LOS ANGELES -- Riot Games today announced that over four million people play League of Legends on a daily basis, a 280% increase since Riot Games last announced the size of its League of Legends community in July 2011. With 11.5 million active monthly players and peak concurrency reaching 1.3 million, League of Legends enters its second competitive season as one of the top five PC games in North America and Europe with a registered player base of over 30 million worldwide. “It’s staggering to think about the fact that over a billion games of League of Legends have been played since launch,” said Marc Merrill, co-founder and President of Riot Games. “In 2012, we intend to deliver even more for our growing audience.”

It’s over for Harry Potter. The final film’s record box office opening was shattered by Activision’s launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The new game from Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games beat out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (now out on Blu-ray) as well as the reigning game champion, Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. Modern Warfare 3 sold over 6.5 million copies in just the US and UK and generated over $400 million in its first 24 hours at retail, according to Charttrack and retail customer sell-through information.

Gamers aren’t tiring of the Just Dance brand, even with competition from other publishers. Ubisoft’s latest game, Just Dance 3, was the bestselling game on the Wii system from Nintendo for the month of October in North America and EMEA territories, according to the NPD Group and an analysis from GFK Group. Dancing with the Stars contestant Hope Solo played the new game as part of her preparation for the reality TV series on ABC.
