The original Torchlight was a shining beacon in a sea of samey dungeon crawlers for those looking for a suitable Diablo replacement. It provided an alternative to the deeper, darker recesses of Blizzard's triumphant cult classic while still serving up the same addictive looting and monster-crushing goodness we quickly became used to with the various dungeons and catacombs of yesteryear.

Inquisitor by Czech developer Cinemax has quite an interesting history. It originally started development around the early 2000’s and was just released a few years ago in Czech and just now has been translated into english. It’s really strange that Cinemax decided to stay with this style of game for so long. Let me explain.

Skyrim is a sprawling quest for anyone to undertake, packing a potential few hundreds of hours of gameplay to exhaust -- and that's not counting its previous DLC expansion, excellent as it was. It's a behemoth of a game that you approach when you've got the time and availability, because once you commit, you're in it for the long haul.

Having grown up with a fantastic generation of PlayStation's Japanese RPGs, it's sometimes hard to relate to some of this generation's biggest releases -- where are the tropes and colorful sprites we're used to, left over from an age long past?

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is still to this day one of the most played games played on PC. With the Dawnguard expansion recently hitting Steam shelves, many have already have played 100 plus hours into the 2011 holiday hit. So what’s next for Skyrim? Bethesda recently filed out a trademark called Hearthfire, which could be linked to the Elder Scrol\ franchise.

LittleBigPlanet has warmed hearts and frustrated platformer fans ever since the inception of Sackboy, and the franchise's latest jaunt to the Vita handheld proves to be no different. The Vita adaptation for the popular side-scrolling bundle of joy is now available in the format of a beta up for ravenous LBP fans like us to examine and report our findings. It's probably fairly obvious by now that there's excellent, slick, and gorgeous levels as well as the tools creative types crave to build their own courses, but we gave the beta a spin to confirm what we had already suspected: we're going to want the full game in-hand come September 25th.

Death Rally is a top down car combat game by Remedy Entertainment. Originally developed in 1996, Death Rally was remade and put on iOS and then later ported to PC. A lot of hardcore gamers could say a lot of great games came from that era, such as X-Com and Doom, however, Death Rally is far from a great game.

COLOGNE, Germany -- The Witcher 2, distributed in North America by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, was the most awarded game during the European Games Awards ceremony at Gamescom 2012. CD Projekt RED, developers of The Witcher 2, started off this year’s Gamescom with a bang, dominating the European Games Awards and then following up with a well-received presentation of the REDkit, the mod engine for their award-winning RPG.

I wanted to review Dust: An Elysian Tail because it looked beautiful. That and because, being part of XBLA's Summer of Arcade, the game had a chance at joining the revered company of titles like Braid, LIMBO, and Bastion.

Insomniac Games and EA have joined forces to bring us a Facebook free-to-play game, Outernauts. Social games have not the habit of being revolutionary or thrilling, but given the rich console development experience of the two names behind this one, there might just be something special in there for us.

Last year Robot Entertainment, the developers behind Halo Wars released Orcs Must Die, a tower defense game that puts players on the battlefield rather than sitting back from a distance. The action gets fast and furious as waves of enemies try to destroy your base. If you played the original, new additions have been added in Orcs Must Die 2, but much is the same, which isn’t a problem.

Anyway, today is Saturday, so let’s look at some of today’s deals and bundles that you should take advantage of…

On Monday we talked with Sam Hulick, Sascha Dikiciyan and Cris Velasco about composing the Mass Effect soundtrack. This time we had the privilege of talking about another Bioware’s dark fantasy RPG series, Dragon Age. The series has many similarities from Mass Effect like interweaving dialogue choices throughout the current installments. However Unlike the Mass Effect series, score is done by one man. Inon Zur has been the franchises leading composer since day one, helping atmosphere behind the series. It’s an underrated soundtrack, but do people notice? Do people look at soundtracks as a whole or as background noise?

Tonight, Nintendo aired its latest Nintendo Direct Internet special, one that’s coming just two weeks after its E3 showcase, where it displayed the Wii U in action, along with various 3DS titles.  Now, the bad news is tonight’s presentation didn’t feature any new information about the new Wii U.  However, we did learn about a new model for the Nintendo 3DS, as well as when it launches.  There’s some other news as well – including who’s working on the new Super Smash Bros. game.

Early this year, Bioware’s Mass Effect saga came to five year run. Rest aside the ending; the series is one of the most complete trilogies in video game history. There are two aspects that Mass Effect nails perfectly. The series was first to interweave choices all the way through the third and final installment captivating fans from start to finish. However, you can’t tell a great story if you forget to create the atmosphere for your game to breath in. The music in the game really doses shape Commander Shepard with it having one of the best scores in gaming, but do people notice? Do people look at soundtracks as a whole or as background noise?

The idea behind E3 was to showcase the latest and brightest games of 2012, but there are always a few games that disappoint us. Some games on our list made serious changes to their formula, and not for the better. Other games took center stage at E3 when they shouldn’t have. There were many games at E3, but here is our top five list of disappointments.

To be honest, Nintendo did manage to do fairly well with the Wii.  Not only did it finally nail down using a typical CD format for its games (shying away from the cartridge and mini-discs it used previously), but it also effectively introduced motion gaming to the scene, with such favorites as Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.  And while it is on its last legs with the upcoming Wii U slated for release this fall, that doesn’t mean the party is completely over for it.  In fact, there are five games that will still make it worth playing this summer – that is, if the Wii is the only option you have.

Ahhh, the Electronic Entertainment Expo.  Every year, game companies show off their best wares at the event.  Some are clearly anticipated from previous announcements, while others are huge surprises that come out of left field.  Konami is no exception to this rule, as they’ve dominated E3 in the past with announcements such as Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.  But even we’re left to wonder just what the company will announce at this year’s expo, as they’re planning a huge announcement.  That won’t stop us from guessing, though…

The IOS market has been around for roughly six years and has helped revolutionize everything tech related from movies, music and games. It has given artist and developers a new platform to communicate and speak directly to audience and that’s exactly what Aoineko Studios is doing.

Recently, I was lucky to partake in the very first Guild Wars 2 beta and what a thrill it was. I haven’t played the franchise before, but all I have heard were great things and it’s one of the most risking IP’s on the market. Unlike most MMO’s, Guild Wars isn’t a subscription service and depends solely on in game player purchase. Besides the subscription model, the development team at NCSOFT is making a number of key changes to the MMO format that makes it immediately intriguing.
