Overwolf, a software company specializing in developing in-game overlay products that bring advanced social functionality to online gamers, is collaborating with Intel to help make PC games playable on new Windows tablets. A fully functional demo was introduced to the public during Game Developers Conference (GDC 2012) at the Intel booth. The public launch of the product is expected later this year.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has expanded the reach of its ratings App to Microsoft Windows Phone 7. This free mobile app, from the organization that assigns age and content ratings for computer and video games, allows easy access to video game ratings and detailed rating summaries.  For parents, it’s as simple as snapping a photo or typing the name of a game to quickly determine if it is right for their family. With the violent video game debate still brewing, this App makes it easy to find out all about any game instantly. Of course, the info is also written right there on the box.

Though many people have decided to pick up L.A. Noire, a little game by the name of The Witcher 2:  Assassins of Kings came out on the same day. And just like the aforementioned, The Witcher 2 also garnered a lot of critical acclaim, reaching a score of 91 on Metacritic. Both that and its first title have become pretty big hits among RPG fans, praising both the storytelling and the battle mechanics. While the game is considered to be possibly the best RPG of the year, many gamers are left out of the mix as it is a PC exclusive, at least for now. But should there still be titles that are exclusive to the PC, or should those days come to an end?

Maxis has created The Sims and Spore franchises. Now the studio that Will Wright built is entering a new gaming arena. Electronic Arts has released Darkspore on PC, a new gameplay experience that allows players to dive into epic levels of customization, vast hero collection, and intense combat where every choice changes the fight. Available at retail on Windows PC in stores throughout North America and via digital download, Darkspore is an online action RPG in which players battle co-operatively across alien worlds against a deadly foe, as well as test their skills in multiplayer matches against players around the globe. BARCELONA, Spain -- Peter Farago, vice president of marketing at research firm Flurry, recently released information that shows that not only is buzz building for the new Microsoft and Nokia partnership, but thousands of games and apps are going into development for Windows Phone 7. The analytics company found that there was a 66% increase in the number of games and apps started this week, compared to last week. The only difference is the confirmation of Nokiasoft, which was announced just before Mobile World Congress 2011 kicked off.
