LAS VEGAS -- Legendary filmmaker and 3D visionary, James Cameron has teamed up with acclaimed cinematographer and fellow 3D pioneer, Vince Pace to form CAMERON - PACE Group (CPG), which seeks to accelerate worldwide growth of 3D across all entertainment platforms including features, episodic and live television, sports, advertising and consumer products including video games, pioneering a new generation of camera systems, services and a variety of creative tools that are innovative, powerful and easier to embrace. Cameron and Pace unveiled the new company this morning during a press conference at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Hot on the heels of record viewership during the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend on TNT, ESPN 3D, in its first year of distribution, will expand its NBA offerings to include The Finals – the pinnacle of the NBA season – this June, marking the first time the championship-crowning event will be presented in 3D.  ESPN 3D televised the first NBA game in 3D when the Miami Heat visited the New York Knicks on December 17, 2010.  Since December, ESPN 3D has shown six NBA games in addition to other programming. The International 3D Society, in conjunction with 3net, will be broadcasting the Society’s Annual 3D Creative Arts Awards Show on February 9 in 3D on 3net. The Society's awards show will be captured with 3D cameras and produced as a two-hour special aired on 3net. The network is scheduled to launch in early 2011. The theme of this year's Society program is “Your World in in 3D." Check out this new 3D technology that will help filmmakers capture the world in 3D in the video below.

The first two weeks of ESPN 3D’s inaugural college football season will open up with telecasts involving three of the top five ranked teams in an ESPN.com early preseason Top 25 poll. Coverage will begin with No. 2 Boise State, entering the season with a 14-game winning streak, against No. 5 Virginia Tech from FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.  The network will telecast approximately 13 college football games this season, concluding with the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game on Monday, January 10 at 8:30 p.m. The people behind these 3D telecasts talk about the technology in this exclusive video interview from the MLB All-Star Game in Anaheim.
