Commando Kiwi, developer of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Lost Chapters, emerged victorious in the Make Something Unreal Live video game development competition at Gadget Show Live. Four teams presented their new Apple iOS games based on individual books in the Fighting Fantasy series to the franchise’s esteemed creators, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone OBE, and the duo determined that Commando Kiwi’s fresh twist on the third-person adventure genre makes the best use of the property and exhibits the most outstanding commercial potential. Epic Games and Train2Game have assembled a lineup of video game luminaries to participate in Make Something Unreal Live, the groundbreaking game development competition coming to the Gadget Show Live on April 10-15, 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. Toward the end of the SpikeTV "Video Game Awards" live broadcast, Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski debuted the first teaser trailer for FORTnITE. The new multiplayer action game from the Gears of War 3 developer introduces a stylized look and a blend of action, horror and strategy as players build up fortifications by day to protect themselves from the undead invasion at night. Microsoft is pulling out all of the stops for one of the big games of 2011. Gears of War 3 is getting 20,000 midnight launches across the country. Epic Games final chapter in the original trilogy hits stores at midnight on September 20.  The game is already the fastest pre-selling Xbox exclusive in history.

Epic Games used San Diego Comic-Con to unveil its latest making-of documentary for Gears of War 3. One of the big games of 2011 is getting custom controllers from Mad Catz Interactive. Epic Games has extended its licensing agreement with the accessories company to include Gears of War 3. Under the terms of the agreement, Mad Catz has secured global rights to produce and market a range of officially branded specialty controllers, headphones and peripherals for Microsoft's Xbox 360. The products will launch this fall in tandem with the game’s release. Microsoft has pushed back the release of Epic Games' third installment of Gears of War until Fall 2011. The Xbpox 360 game was originally given an April 5 release date by Epic Games’ design director Cliff Bleszinski. This new launch date will give some breathing room between Epic’s other big shooter, Bulletstorm, which is currently still on track for a February 22, 2011 release from Electronic Arts for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. SAN FRANCISCO -- One of the big games of 2011 has been revealed to the gaming press at an event in San Francisco. The game studios behind ultra-violent, Mature-rated shooters Painkiller (People Can Fly) and Gears or War and Unreal Tournament 3 (Epic Games) have collaborated on Bulletstorm, an over-the-top “symphony of blood” that actually encourages gamers to torture enemies before putting them out of their misery.

Epic Games-owned People Can Fly and Electronic Arts offered the first details on the first new IP from the Gears of War creators and Painkiller developer. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski will formally announce Bulletstorm tonight on “Late Night,” although the game is also on the cover of Game Informer magazine. Bleszinski will also talk about Gears of War 3 with Jimmy Fallon. Set to release in 2011, Bulletstorm brings new furor to first-person shooter action with its signature ‘kill with skill’ gameplay, which is packed with blockbuster moments.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sony has huge plans for God of War 3, including a major marketing blitzkrieg that is on-going with Slurpees at 7-11, television commercials and spinoffs like comic books and novels. There’s even a Hollywood movie in development at Sony Pictures. Sony used GDC 2010 to celebrate the March 16th launch of God of War 3 early by featuring the game at its large booth on the show floor, having playable versions at its PlayStation Blog Lounge at the W Hotel, and throwing a God of War 3 party.
