As good a distraction as Transformers: Dark of the Moon was on Xbox 360 and PS3 last year, it just didn’t measure up to the monstrosity that came out a year before, the boldly original War For Cybertron.  Featuring a great new storyline, thrilling action and strong multiplayer, the game was a must for fans of Hasbro’s long-running franchise.  High Moon Studios recognizes this, and recently invited us down to Las Vegas to get a first glimpse at the upcoming sequel, Fall of Cybertron, which is introducing some bigger players into the picture – literally.

Remember the old school NES shooter Gradius from the NES days?  It was a pretty cool retro shooter where you could utilize power-ups based upon your choices – rather than dealing with what was automatically handed to you – while shooting enemies like crazy.  Well, Otomedius Excellent, Konami’s oft-delayed anime shooter for Xbox 360, is heavily inspired by that game, using a similar power-up system as you control barely-dressed cyber ladies, shooting everything in sight.  It’s definitely inspired, but a few setbacks keep it from reaching Gradius’ legendary status.

Over the years, Insomniac Games has effectively moved from one cartoony franchise (Spyro the Dragon) to another (Ratchet and Clank), without breaking a sweat.  These guys really know what makes each one click, especially when it comes to catchy gameplay that will attract players of all ages.  Needless to say, this trend continues with Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, even if the gameplay is a bit different than what you've come to expect from games in the series.

When it comes to aggressive racing that leads into outrageous crashes, the Burnout series continues to be the best out there on the market. However, Criterion Games is taking a short break from all of that to focus on a spin-off of the series called Burnout Crash!. The game takes the series's Crash mode and builds an entire game around it, with a few changes being added in. After getting the chance to play it at a recent preview event, it actually feels a little more like a pinball game than the Crash mode we've seen in other games.

Superman has his flight and his laser sight. Spider-Man has his web and his spider sense. Batman has his gadgets and his bare hands. Sometimes, that's all you really need to fight crime. Sure, there have been plenty of other comic book heroes with more impressive abilities, but no one does it in style like Batman does. While everyone was checking out the new games on the E3 floor, Rocksteady Games released a few more screenshots for Batman: Arkham City. These screenshots show Batman going old school and fighting with hard fists and a few gadgets for good measure.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is a reimagining of last year's Dead Rising 2 with one key difference, it stars Dead Rising's protagonist Frank West. The game takes place in Fortune City, Nevada with many of the same locales, zombies and weapons of Dead Rising 2 and a few noteworthy and extremely over the top tweaks. The E3 2011 demo takes place in the new "Uranus Zone" which is a parody of Disneyland's "Tomorrow Land" area.
