Throughout the history of video games, the oldest stereotype surrounding the industry has always been do violent video games affect player behavior and personality. It is a known fact that people who play games are exposed to more violence than the average consumer. From nuking entire civilization to obliterating players online, it’s has become more and more common now that games are more focus on squarely providing violent action. For this reason alone, parents have long held an underlining negative attitude towards the industry and those who stand by it, but is this criticism injustice or have developers gone to far? American moviegoers continue to find 3D movies exciting, according to a study released today by the International 3D Society. In a poll conducted by the organization, 52% of those surveyed had seen at least one 3D movie in the last three years. This comes on the heels of RealD announcing that 20,000 theatres and 725 million people have watched a 3D movie.

Epic Games and Train2Game have assembled a lineup of video game luminaries to participate in Make Something Unreal Live, the groundbreaking game development competition coming to the Gadget Show Live on April 10-15, 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. SAN FRANCISCO – Nintendo had a strong showing at the Game Developers Conference (GDC 2012). The game maker abandoned Wii U for Nintendo 3DS and featured some brand new games. On display and playable was Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, Mario Tennis and Kid Icarus: Uprising.

While Nintendo remains a formidable force in the game industry, the company has seen better days, recently posting a net loss in its business and trying to figure out its next move with the Wii U, and whether a renaming of the system is necessary or not.  That said, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata remained confident in the future of the company business, and (finally) introduced a dedicated gaming network coming soon from the company, one that should offer simplicity to those picking up a Nintendo 3DS or, later this year, a Wii U.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Fathom movie theaters on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT with its first-ever, live 3D broadcast of an action-packed UFC card. UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Live in 3D gives fans the chance to witness the highly anticipated battle between former STRIKEFORCE champion Nick Diaz and former WEC champion and knockout artist Carlos Condit for the interim UFC welterweight title live and in 3D. LAS VEGAS – Last year, NVIDIA made a big splash at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with its Tegra 2 technology. This year, the chip maker has Tegra 3 chips in hot new tablet devices, including the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime – one of a growing number of convertible devices that were shown through CES 2012. NVIDIA and Asus show off a new $250 Tegra 3 tablet during the NVIDIA press conference in the video below.

LAS VEGAS -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has officially put the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) into the record books as the largest in the show's 44 year history, with 1.861 million net square feet of exhibit space. The previous record was 1.857 million net square feet of space at the 2008 International CES. Owned and produced by CEA, CES 2012, the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology, runs January 10 through January 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

LAS VEGAS -- AT&T's President of Emerging Devices Glenn Lurie and Sony's SVP Kuni Suzuki announced together on stage the new data plans for the soon to be launched Playstation PS Vita portable gaming console here at AT&T's Developer Summit being held at the Palm's Hotel & Casino at CES 2012. Plans will be similar to the iPad and iPhone with two tiers - $14.99 for 250MB and $25 for 2GB. The Playstation PS Vita will have 3G and Wi-Fi support to allow PS Vita's gamers to access the Playstation Network. Unfortunately, the PS Vita will not support of AT&T's new and faster 4G LTE network nor will it have unlimited data. The Playstaton PS Vita will be available February 22nd in North America.

THQ is expanding the workouts available for its Ultimate Fighting Championship fitness game. UFC Personal Trainer: The Ultimate Fitness System now features DLC from prominent UFC bantamweight Urijah Faber, whose submission victory over Brian Bowles at UFC 139 earned him a future rematch against Dominick Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. President Barack Obama checked out the videogame section of Best Buy in Virginia to pick up Ubisoft’s Just Dance 3 for the Wii. This is the latest game to be added to the Presidential Wii Collection at the White House. Obama’s daughters Malia and Sasha play Wii, making the White House a First Gaming Family.

In a strange case of reality following fiction, the death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il was predicted – down to the year – by THQ’s recent videogame, Homefront. Developer Kaos Studios worked with a former CIA officer who specialized in North Korea, Tae Kim. With the death of the 69 year old president, the next step in the science fiction game chronicled the rise of North Korea under the iron rule of Kim Jung-Un. Kim talked about the future scenario in 2009 in this exclusive video below.

Chinese online game company ZQGame has partnered with Los Angeles-based SEE Games to create, co-invest in, and publish an original MMO (massively multiplayer online) game based on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s 2012 summer event film, Total Recall (2012), starring Colin Farrell. The deal represents the first time a Hollywood entity has partnered with a game company from China to develop an online game in-full.

Nintendo has seen better times.  The company is preparing to report its first quarterly loss in quite some time, and it's still trying to put faith back into its Nintendo 3DS user base, despite its botched launch earlier this year.  But things are on the mend, and along with the promise of a Wii U final build coming to E3 next year, the company will be updating the 3DS with new features, starting with a firmware update this November.  What can we expect?

It’s been a pretty big week for Epic Games on the technology front. Epic Games Chief Executive Officer, Founder and Technical Director Tim Sweeney presented the company’s award-winning Unreal Engine 3 (UE3) technology running fully inside an Adobe Flash-based environment during a keynote at Adobe MAX 2011 in Los Angeles, Adobe’s annual conference for developers, designers and business leaders. Epic Games President Mike Capps took the stage in San Francisco to showcase Infinity Blade II, the sequel to Chair Entertainment’s bestselling iOS game, running on the new iPhone 4S during Apple’s press conference. That’s on top of Gears of War 3 continuing to sell at a record pace, and with the first DLC already coming in November.

Epic Games President Mike Capps was on stage at today’s Apple iPhone 4S launch to show off its much anticipated sequel to its Infinity Blade game, Infinity Blade 2. The Infinity Blade 2 demo showed off the iPhone 4S’ new A5 dual-core processor with improved graphics acceleration. Developed by Epic’s Salt Lake City-based Chair Entertainment studio, Infinity Blade 2 will be a much bigger game compared to its ancestor, which sold over 5 million copies in its first 10 months. It will have much larger maps and cool new creatures and villains to fight. We talked exclusively to Chair Entertainment Creative Director Donald Mustard about what we can expect from the upcoming Infinity Blade 2 game in this exclusive video interview at Chair’s downtown Salt Lake City studios.

Remember all those rumors that were circling when the teaser trailer for Dead Island was first released earlier this year, stating that someone had already grabbed the movie rights before the game was even out?  Yeah, so do we.  Still, we figured it would only be a matter of time before someone stepped up and snagged the rights to give it the movie treatment.  This morning, Lionsgate, the producers behind the Saw franchise and other horror releases, did just that.
