Electronic Arts is once again hosting an E3 press conference, called Gamechangers: EA 2011, before the official video game convention opens its doors. At both the press conference and the big show, EA’s lineup this year consists of games spanning a multitude of popular genres, including immersive shooters and role-playing games for hardcore players, revolutionary sports titles for sports fans, as well as mobile and casual games for the whole family. With Sony’s PlayStation Network back up, the game company is turning its attention to its big E3 press conference. Sony has an excellent line-up of games, but one that stands out from the crowd in the 3D realm is Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The game will be on display at Sony’s E3 booth and should be demonstrated at the press conference in 3D. Jesse Divnich, Vice President of Capital Research for Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), believes this game could do for 3D gaming what Avatar did for 3D Hollywood movies.

 As we get closer to the start of E3, more details emerge surrounding which games will be shown this year. While everyone continues to speculate as to what we can expect, Ubisoft has made that task a little bit easier. SAN FRANCISCO -- Alienware, a division of Dell, held a press conference in San Francisco to showcase a trio of new gaming laptops. The new devices include the soon to be released M18x, which Alienware calls the most powerful 18-inch gaming laptop in the universe. Nintendo made a splash at E3 with its Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo gave the world the first look at a portable system that lets people view games in 3D, without the need for special glasses. Sourcebits, a leading developer in mobile and social app, gaming and digital solutions for iPhone, Mac, Android, Blackberry and Web, announced a new solution for iPad App design and development called Sourcebits iPad Lab. The company, which currently employs over 150 software developers, has dedicated a team of 80 iPhone developers and Apple designers to focus solely on creating super apps for the next generation of Apple iPad devices, including the iPhone and iPod Touch.

With Apple's press conference for the iPad tablet featuring Steve Jobs big news, online consumer electronics price comparison site Retrevo recently surveyed customers to find out what they’re looking for in an Apple tablet. According to the survey, a majority (70%) of respondents said they would not spend over $700 on the device. The survey found that 44% of respondents would not buy Apple's tablet if it required a monthly data plan.

LAS VEGAS – With Apple dominating the portable games space thanks to its App Store and thousands of videogames, Palm used CES 2010 to go virtual. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Palm showed off 3D games for its Palm webOS platform. Palm has partnered with leading mobile game developers like EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu Mobile, and Laminar Research to bring the first batch of games to its Palm Pre customers. Demonstrated at Palm's CES event, the games are now available in the Palm App Catalog for Palm Pre customers.

At Sony Electronics’ press conference at its mammoth booth in Central Hall, Kaz Hirai, President of Sony Networked Products and Services Group, announced that Sony’s PlayStation Network will connect with consumers beyond PlayStation 3 and PSP beginning in February. Anyone who owns a Sony Bravia Internet device, Vaio or Windows-enabled PC will be able to use their existing PSN network identification and wallet or create a new account, which can then be used on PS3 and PSP. Sony will launch this functionality in six countries initially.
