NEW YORK CITY – Robert Griffin III, who is best known to sports fans as RGIII, is taking control of the Washington Redskins this season. The Heisman trophy-winning quarterback from Baylor has just as much skills off the gridiron as he displays on it, which seems appropriate given that his skills are often compared to that of a video game character. Today marks the start of the NCAA Football 13 My Heisman Cover Vote, which allows fans to cast their vote on the EA SPORTS NCAA Football Facebook page for one of eight Heisman Trophy winners to accompany former Baylor University quarterback Robert Griffin III on the cover of EA SPORTS NCAA Football 13. Developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon, and licensed by The Collegiate Licensing Company, a division of IMG College, NCAA Football 13 will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on July 10.

From the football field to the battlefield, the Battlefield 3 experience comes alive this fall from Electronic Arts. EA has created a new Web series, Battlefield 3: Operation Gridiron, which features takes quarterback Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), linebacker Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers), wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals), and defensive end Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings) into real-life combat scenarios inspired by the Battlefield 3.

With the NFL lockout now history and pre-season games kicking off, armchair quarterbacks can start throwing virtually. EA Sports has launched the Madden NFL 12 demo on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network.  The demo features a rematch of the 2011 NFC Championship match-up between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.  Fans will have access to play five minute quarters, select from four difficulty levels and the option of using Conventional or GameFlow play calling.

When the votes came down to it, Cleveland Browns Running Back Peyton Hillis beat out a pool of very stiff competition. As an unexpected snow storm swept through North Texas, Madden Bowl XVII kicked off a wet and wild Super Bowl XLV week in style with an exciting four-team tournament that featured upsets, last-minute victories, and the first female champion in Madden Bowl history. Just in time for Sony Computer Entertainment’s big E3 2010 press conference, Sony Electronic’s 3D capable BRAVIA HDTVs are now available for pre-sale at Sony Style stores and that its new integrated Blu-ray 3D devices will hit retail shelves beginning this July. Additionally, the company released a free firmware update that activates Blu-ray 3D capability for previously announced Blu-ray Disc models including the BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 players and the BDV-E570 and BDV-E770W home theater systems. EA Sports used the 75th NFL Draft to crown its football cover athlete. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been chosen by fans to be featured on the cover of Madden NFL 11, set to hit retail shelves on Tuesday, August 10. The Madden NFL 11 cover announcement is the result of a first-ever online consumer vote, powered by the Doritos “Change the Game” program, which empowered fans to select the highly-debated cover athlete.  The partnership between EA Sports and the Doritos brand represents the first in a series of initiatives this year which allow fans to help shape the future of the franchise.
