Every Sunday afternoon, movie fans can see exactly how well Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Cowboys & Aliens and Captain America: The First Avenger did at the box office. In the video game business, those numbers aren’t released until over a month later – with the exception of big games like Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which have huge opening days and weeks. But that could be changing. The NPD Group and Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR) have partnered in a strategic collaboration aimed at improving the measurement and analysis of the evolving video game industry.

Fans have a lot of green this weekend. Green Lantern is on the big screen, on home video, and on video game consoles. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters.  The action-adventure videogame, inspired by the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures’ superhero feature film Green Lantern, based on the DC Comics’ character of the same name. The developer talks about the new game in this exclusive video interview below.

SAN FRANCISCO – Double Helix Games showed off the latest build of its action advanture game, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, at WonderCon 2011. One of the big games of 2011 was part of a DC Entertainment Green Lantern celebration, which included Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively showing new 3D footage of the Warner Bros. film and a new Blu-ray and DVD animated adventure. The Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment game will be available in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Interactive Entertainment had the Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters game on display. And Warner Home Video premiered the origins of the ultimate intergalactic police force in six interlocking tales of the legendary Green Lantern Corps in the all-new Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Ryan Reynolds will be on hand during a panel at the 25th anniversary of the pop culture show. And Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment will have Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters available to play. The new game will be available in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii and Nintendo DS versions will be in 2D. With the game shipping on June 7, gamers will get a 10-day advance before checking out the blockbuster movie in theaters.
