LAS VEGAS – Namco Bandai and Paramount Pictures have released a new trailer and concept art from Digital Extremes’ Star Trek game. The award-winning game casts players for the first time ever as Kirk and Spock in an original co-op experience. Set in the new canon of director and producer J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009) reboot, players will be immersed in the game’s rich story and action-packed combat. Check out the trailer and concept art below.

Under development by acclaimed Ontario-based developers Digital Extremes (Bioshock 2, Dark Sector, The Darkness 2), Star Trek features an original story by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk, in collaboration with the writer/producers of the new Star Trek films, Bob Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof.

Star Trek is in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC for a Q1 2013 release, which will give Trekkers a double dose of Trek in 2013. Abrams’ Star Trek II will hit theaters May 17, 2013 from Paramount Pictures.

NVIDIA was on hand at the Namco Bandai Global Press Event to showcase Star Trek in 3D. Like the upcoming movie, the new game will be playable in 3D for PC gamers. And console gamers may also be getting a 3D experience, but details on that have yet to emerge.
